Israel/Zionism See other Israel/Zionism Articles Title: Yoav Gallant's Israel Yoav Gallant’s Israel by Stephen Lendman Gallant is a retired Israeli general turned politician. He’s a former IDF Southern Command head, currently a Knesset member, as well as housing and construction minister - in charge of illegal settlement development. He commanded Israel’s December 2008 - January 2009 naked aggression on Gaza (Operation Cast Lead), committing high crimes against peace, responsible for slaughtering 1,414 Palestinians over a 23-day period. The vast majority were civilians, including 313 children. Israel considers noncombatants legitimate targets, mass-murdering them indiscriminately. Chemical, biological, radiological and other illegal weapons were used. Doctors reported treating wounds never before seen. No government or military official was held accountable for high crimes too grave to ignore. Gallant waged dirty war without mercy on defenseless Palestinians. He remains an undicted war criminal. The New York Times gave him feature op-ed space - instead of demanding his arrest and prosecution. Israel’s future he envisions is unfit and unsafe to live in. “(G)overnment has clear responsibilities,” he said. “First, we must protect our people.” “(W)e have no choice but to fight terrorism and cut its branches without hesitation or compromise.” Fact: Israel is like America, both countries racist/fascist regimes, serving wealth and power interests exclusively, spurning social justice, persecuting their disadvantaged minorities. Fact: Israeli Arab citizens are treated like fifth column threats, persecuted for their faith and ethnicity, denied rights afforded Jews alone. Fact: Israel considers legitimate Palestinian resistance and self-defense “terrorism.” Longstanding state-sponsored terrorism ruthlessly persecutes Arabs for not being Jews. “(W)e must preserve the rights and freedoms of an open democracy and maintain the atmosphere of respect and tolerance necessary for a diverse and pluralistic society,” claimed Gallant. Fact: Israeli democracy is pure fantasy. None exists. Nor “respect and tolerance” for Palestinians. Arab Knesset members are treated like potted plants, with no say whatever on policy. So-called “incitement in Israel” is state-sponsored, Palestinians blamed for Israeli high crimes, murdering defenseless victims virtually daily, injuring and mass arresting many thousands. An entire population is collectively punished, persecuted for praying to the wrong god and wanting to live free. Israel’s longterm strategy calls for maximum Jews and minimum Arabs. Ethnic cleansing is official policy. So are state-sponsored terrorism and wars of aggression at Israel’s discretion. Gallant lied, claiming Israel intends “putting sections of publicly owned land under (Palestinian) jurisdiction, (planning) new Arab neighborhoods…with high-quality housing…(helping) young Arab couples purchase new homes for the first time. Fact: Israeli Arab citizens are isolated in separate communities, prohibited from living in Jewish ones, denied services afforded Jews. Fact: Occupied Palestinians live in ghettoized bantustans, treated the way Nazis brutalized Jews, denied all fundamental rights - courageous freedom fighters disgracefully called “terrorists,” murdered or imprisoned solely for political reasons. Gallant saying “(i)t is our duty to…nurtur(e) a culture and a country where (Jews and Arabs) can thrive” is polar opposite longstanding Israeli policy. Claiming Israel’s “Declaration of Independence guarantees full equality for all our citizens” belies reality. So does saying “Israeli Arabs are our citizens; they are not the enemy.” Israel calls itself a Jewish state. Muslims aren’t wanted, longstanding victims of state-sponsored ethnic cleansing, their land stolen for exclusive Jewish development. Gallant claiming state policy “resolve(s) (to) provide a prosperous future for our Jewish and Arab citizens” is pure rubbish, reprehensible coverup for harsh reality.
