Rifle is located 61 miles east of Grand Junction on 70 going to Denver. Grand Junction is on the west side of the Rockies so it gets less snow. Elevation is 5,300 feet.
I can remember driving thru the State of Nevada after we were stuck at a Sapp Brothers truck stop in Rock Falls, Wyoming for three days during a blizzard.
We could hear the whore houses on the CB radio, "Drivers! Stop in for a quick one!" We didn't have time, of course, because we were hung up for three days.
We were supposed to switch drivers a half hour before we got to the drop in California, but I kept going to save time. ;)
