They just introduced the past Super Bowl MVPs.

Glad to see Joe Namath.

I posted this on another thread, but it probably belongs here: Does anyone think the Rolling Stones will have the b*lls to play 'Sweet Neo-Con' during the halftime festivities?

play 'Sweet Neo-Con' during the halftime festivities?

The NFL has the contractual right to OK the song selection, according to the NY Times this week.

Cast your mind back 40 years, when the Stones went on Ed Sullivan, they caved to the demand to change the words of "Let's spend the night together" to "Let's spend some time together."

OMG! My wife is serving a beyond spicy white chicken chili that is going to have WMD-level repercussions on yours truly about 12 to 18 hours from now...a real 'colon cleansing' level of heat. Three bowls, please.

I imagine their contract specifically states if the song is begun, a lone gunman will be close at hand.

True...but it would have been funny as hell.

I would imagine, knowing the fascist mentality of the NFL, that every second of the Stones' performance has been scripted and reviewed for approval by the Commissioner and the TV people. Also with that 5-second delay, the TV people can just claim "technical difficulties" and make it last for the length of the song once they realize Mick has deviated from the script.

Remember when NBC, I think it was, broadcast Kanye West live at some awards show saying "George Bush doesn't care about black people" right after Katrina. By the time the same show was shown on the West Coast, West's offending remarks had been edited out. The control of big media in this country is really overwhelming at this point. I am sure Bushco curses every day the proliferation of the Internet. Without it, there would literally never be any significant opposition to the regime.

If we had had this kind of media control in the 1960s and '70s, Vietnam would still have been going on for another 10 years. MAYBE it would have ended by 1983 or so.

Red jalapenos (we leave them on the plant until they turn 'red', for extra 'zing'), some green chiles, and cayenne peppers...also garlic, cumin, and oregano...man...this is murder, but plenty of Bass ale on hand. :-)

That chicken chile sounds really good, spicy but good. I'm starving right now I would like to eat some of that!

I'm off to the neighbor's to watch the Superbowl but I'm late as usual, we're going to fry some fresh caribou steaks, but that chicken chile sounds better...I'll be thinking about that until I get to finally eat.

This game is being called awfully tight against Seattle. The Steeler touchdown, the ball never broke the plane of the goal.

It was great, and will be even better tomorrow after it has had the night to heat up some more. My wife has to walk a thin line when making food like this for the both of us...I love it flaming hot, but then she can't eat it. She pushes it right to the threshold of her pain level; then we can both enjoy it. If I were to add a couple of drops of my favorite hot sauces, like 'Ass Reaper' or Blair's 'Possible Side Effects'; she would be stuck with a peanut butter sandwich. I'm not that cruel.
