Chrissy Teigen Says Sports Illustrated Begged Her Not to Lose Weight

The fashion world wasn't as kind.

Chrissy Teigen has heard a phrase most of her modeling peers haven't: "Please don't lose weight." The supermodel told HuffPostLive that even though she's experienced some pushback from parts of the fashion world, one client wanted her to keep her curves.

"Since I started modeling, I was actually the athletic, curvy one, which is so crazy because I can't play any sports," she said. "I am in no way curvy. I wish I had the hips and the little waist and everything. But I was always kind of more box-shaped."

Still, her shape kept her out of the fashion elite. "To them, I was a catalog girl or lingerie. I wasn't ever invited to walk in a New York Fashion Week fashion show," she said. "It wasn't something that ever crossed my mind, not just because of my size, but because of my height and everything too."

Teigen first started to notice that the industry was changing when she met with Sports Illustrated and wasn't asked to put on a swimsuit. "Your body type isn't important to them," she explained. "It was way more about having a personality and being able to represent this iconic brand, which was really exciting."

She continued, "I've done six Sports Illustrated shoots, and every single time I get an email from them hoping that I haven't lost weight," she said. "It's such a cool thing, no other client has ever said that to me, 'Please don't lose weight.'"

Poster Comment:

Teigen is not 5'11" tall and 140 lbs. Definitely not Rive Gauche. Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald hung around on the Left Bank of the River Seine in Paris.
