Feminists Won’t Be Happy When They See These Stats about Women And Guns Over the past few years, women’s rights have become more and more a fixture in pop culture. Of course the one thing many of these feminists get wrong is their fight for equal rights doesn’t mean they have to promote women as being more important than men. But that’s what they like to do…elevate women as being superior to men. Amid all their clamoring for “equal rights” there’s always a disparate and tangental cry for the patriarchy to get in line and quit abusing women. That’s something we can agree with. But what happens when men don’t listen, how are women supposed to respond? Well real feminists (not third wave Internet feminists) would make the argument the only way to strike true equality is to make the playing field level. The best way to do this when it comes to resisting violent men (who are stronger than women) is to get a gun. And that’s millions and millions of American women are doing. WOW, you don’t say. Females have consistently comprised the fastest growing segment of the shooting sports industry for year. The facts speak for themselves: Between 2001 and 2013, women involved in target shooting grew from 3.3 million to 5.3 million. During the same period, the number of female hunters grew from 1.3 million to 3.3 million. 56% of women reported they owned at least one gun, which was also likely to be a semiautomatic handgun (a shotgun was second). Gun retailers estimate 20% of their sales are to women. 73% of all women gun owners have taken a firearms safety course. Meanwhile, the Pew Research Center reported a 9 point increase in the number of women supporting gun rights over gun control from 2008 to 2012. The number of concealed carry permits for women has jumped 270% since 2007. While these stats come as no shock to those of us in the firearms industry, it’s about time we start seeing it from the “fools” in main-stream media outlets. From CNN Money’s Aaron Smith report on how Women are Reshaping the Gun Industry, to Cosmopolitan magazine’s bold declaration that Concealed Carry Purses are the New Hermès Birkins, gun-toting women are finally seeing the spotlight, and it’s no wonder people are taking notice. According to the NSSF, women purchasing a gun in the last 12 months spent on average $870 on firearms and more than $400 on accessories. In response, gun manufacturers are streamlining their pistols to easily conceal and to fit feminine hands and gear, but women know they’re just playing catch up. “Women have always been around in the industry,” says Glock spokeswoman Kie Wagner. “We’ve always been here; we’ve always been shooting.” With more than 5.86 million women actively participating in shooting sports and 3.3 million women hunting annually, the 77% increase in the number of female gun owners should come as no surprise to anyone. Women are wising up and realizing as long as their constitutional right exists to own a gun they should take full advantage of it. Owning a gun is their right, and it’s also their responsibility to protect themselves as the government and the police aren’t able to do it. Of course feminists are going to argue guns aren’t the solution, men keeping their hands to themselves is. Well there’s a long, long history of men not doing this and until the Lord returns there are going to be evil men who will abuse women because they can.
