Infuriating: How Obama Can Bypass Congress To Appoint Who He Wants To The Supreme Court?
John Thomas | February 18, 2016
By now, youve probably heard about the death of Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia. His death gives the potential opportunity for our leftist President to nominate a progressive to the U.S. Supreme Court which could shift the balance from a relatively politically balanced court, between conservative and liberal, to an outright liberal court.
Thats pretty scary, especially given the courts tendency to legislate from the bench, but what is even scarier is that Obama has a way that he can force his choice down our throat without Congressional approval:
Its called a Recess Appointment.
What this means is that the President can appoint his pick for the Supreme Court without Congressional approval until the end of the Congressional session. This means that this isnt a permanent post, but, as teaparty.org points out, there is no limit to how many times that the President can re-appoint the same person to the post over and over.
Add to this the fact that many court challenges to Obamas pet laws are seeking review by the U.S. Supreme Court, if Obama can keep his pet justice on the court long enough to review Obamacare court challenges, for example, Obama can literally force his choices down our collective throat, and there is nothing that we can do about it.
What do you think that we should do about this situation?
