War, War, War See other War, War, War Articles Title: Chances for a Durable Ceasefire and Peace in Syria Are Nil Chances for a Durable Ceasefire and Peace in Syria Are Nil by Stephen Lendman Syrias war isnt civil. Claiming otherwise is one of many Big Lies about the conflict - willful scoundrel media proliferated deception, the public systematically lied to. Ongoing conflict is Obamas war - planned, orchestrated and implemented by lunatics infesting his administration, notably Hillary Clinton in her former role as secretary of state. How can hostilities cease and peace be achieved if Washington keeps raping and destroying Syria with no letup? Dont let duplicitous rhetoric by US officials claiming resolve for diplomatic conflict resolution fool you. War was launched to eliminate another sovereign independent state. America tolerates none, demanding all countries worldwide bend to its will, outliers targeted for regime change, brute force Washingtons strategy of choice. On Friday, Security Council members unanimously adopted Resolution 2268, mandating cessation of hostilities in Syria - ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra and other SC designated terrorist groups excluded. The measure is binding under international law. History shows SC resolutions are regularly breached and ignored unaccountably - America and Israel the worst offenders. Res. 2268 (r)eaffirms (the Councils) strong commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic. It upholds UN Charter principles, core international law. It endorses the establishment of an ISSG (International Syria Support Group) humanitarian task force, and separate one to monitor the ceasefire and deal with violations. It mandates implementing SC Resolution 2254, calling for ceasefire and resolving the long-running conflict diplomatically. It demands all applicable parties fulfill their commitments, and urges Member States to use their influence
to ensure fulfillment of obligations agreed on. It calls for rapid, safe and unhindered access to all areas throughout the country, so unrestricted amounts of humanitarian aid can reach people in need. It creates the illusion of a durable ceasefire and peace process to follow. War continues raging throughout the country. Turkey facilitates the movement of newly recruited ISIS and other terrorist fighters crossing from its territory into Syria, aiding them with Saudi-paid for armaments and other material support - Washington orchestrating everything. Russia deserves full credit for years of forthright conflict resolution efforts. Washington systematically undermined them. Expect nothing different this time. Chances for a durable ceasefire and peace in Syria are virtually nil. Nothing in prospect suggests otherwise. Stephen Lendman lives in Chicago. He can be reached at lendmanstephen@sbcglobal.net.
