“My Kind of Town (Chicago Is)”

Mark Walters | February 26, 2016

You remember the lyrics, right? The Frank Sinatra tune?

My kind of town, Chicago is

My kind of town, Chicago is

My kind of razzmatazz

And it has, all that jazz

It may be Frank Sinatra’s kind of town but it ain’t mine. To me, it’s a socialist-controlled, gang-ridden cesspool. Now to be sure, I have been to Chicago many times in the past and really enjoyed the culture of the city when I was there…every time. The restaurants, the vibe, the pubs, and the sports. I’ve watched the Bucs lose to the Bears in the old Soldier Field more times than I care to remember both on television and from the stands.

Having said that, and from a political standpoint, they can keep the city to themselves and I didn’t lose anything up there I need to go in search of. While I feel terrible for the great people who live there who feel trapped by the socialists (formerly known as Democrats) who control the city, those who continue to pull the levers for the corrupt socialists (formerly known as Democrats) get everything they deserve. You vote for it, own it. No sympathy from Mark.

What could be so bad, dude? Why are you jumping on Chicago, bro? Look, I care about one thing and one thing only when it comes to this column, my radio programs, and Concealed Carry Magazine. Gun rights. And the words “Chicago” and “gun rights” belong in the same sentence as much as the words “career” and “politician” do. In other words, they don’t.

So that begs this question: Since Chicago likes to hold itself up as the Mecca of gun control, how’s that gun control working out for you? Certainly it’s gotten better for you over this last year, right? We should start seeing the benefits some time this century, right?

Why, let’s take a look, shall we?

Try to wrap your head around what you’re about to read. It’s almost surreal and yet we hear nothing…absolute crickets…from the mainstream media and our insidious President and his gun-grabbing, unAmerican administration. Seriously, wrap your head around this from the Monday, February 22nd Chicago Tribune:

Homicides in Chicago This Year Double Same Period Last Year

Four homicides over the weekend and two more Monday morning pushed Chicago’s homicide count so far this year to double the same period last year.

The city has recorded at least 95 homicides since the first of the year, compared to 47 last year, according to data kept by the Tribune. The city has also more than doubled the amount of people shot—about 420 this year compared to 193 last year.

Thirty-two people were shot in Chicago over the weekend, the youngest among them a 3-year-old boy shot in the leg in the Englewood neighborhood.

The boy was shot as he played with a relative in the 5600 block of South Wolcott Avenue on Saturday afternoon. He was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Police said the boy apparently was hit by a stray bullet fired in a gang fight. No one was reported in custody.

Hours earlier, a woman and a security guard were wounded outside a South Loop nightclub.

A group of people had started fighting inside the Shrine, at 2109 S. Wabash Ave., just before 2 a.m. and were escorted outside by the club’s security, police said. Shortly afterward, someone fired shots from a burgundy car in front of the club.

A 29-year-old woman was shot in the head and a 36-year-old man, a security guard at the club, was shot in the leg, according to police. Both were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where the woman was listed in critical condition and the guard was stabilized, police said.

Police said they recovered three guns from the scene of the shooting. No one was reported in custody.

The weekend toll includes one person killed and nine wounded from Friday evening to Saturday morning; three men killed and 14 people wounded from Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning; and six people wounded from Sunday afternoon to Monday morning.

The weekend’s first gunshot homicide was at 11:30 p.m. Friday, when 20-year-old Terrell Sykes was shot multiple times in the abdomen while standing out on the Gresham block where he lived.

On Saturday afternoon, 18-year-old Brian Johnson was shot in the head near the intersection of Prairie Avenue and 56th Street, officials said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital and pronounced dead.

Around 8 a.m. Monday, a cabbie was found shot to death in his taxi parked near a library in the 4400 block of North Leavitt Street, police said. Hours later, a 28-year-old man was shot in the 6400 block of South Eggleston Avenue, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

My kind of town? Your kind of town? Nope. It’s their kind of town and they can have it. Of course I’m talking about the unAmerican gun grabbers who want to shove Chicago-style gun control down the throats of the rest of America. Incredible, isn’t it? This is what gun control does. This is the evil of gun control. This is the evil of socialism. An entire city—America’s third largest—being held hostage by the socialists (formerly known as Democrats).

You show me an American city in decay and I’ll show you an American city run by socialists (formerly known as Democrats).

Gun violence in Chicago has increased tremendously since I lived there many years ago.
