That is one amazing film, Red. I can't help but feel a bit sorry for these people, it seems like they are the kind of people who desperately need someone to tell them what to do every moment of their lives, and if one authority figure isn't strict enough with them then they'll switch to another who will give them the firm hand of guidance they so deeply desire. It just strikes me as sad, that so many people need someone or something else to tell them what to do with their lives. I keep coming back to the idea that the single greatest error of monotheistic religions is putting God into a box labeled "I am", which is then very quickly appended with the label "I demand", and then a long laundry list of rules and regulations gets added. Then again, I must conceed that most people are not intellectually capable of conceiving of a greater reality than this one, a reality that is the superset of this reality, and that we are all connected to that greater reality by virtue of the fact that our bodies and brains are not the originators of our consciousness but in fact more analogous to a radio receiver that is tuned into the universal source of all life and consciousness. It's much easier to assign a name and ego to the "grand poobah", and then spend your life continually bowing and prostrating yourself before it. It's much more difficult to acknowledge that we are all like individual beams of light emanating from one great source, and that our personal decisions and actions directly act to either connect us more closely to that source, or to drive us more far away from it.
