The paper's perceived references to intelligent design have provoked anger and calls for a boycott of the journal The language of the paper references a 'Creator', which some saw as an endorsement of intelligent design Jeff J Mitchell/Getty Images A recent scientific paper on the movement of the human hand has faced strong criticism for referring to a 'Creator' throughout. The paper, titled: 'Biomechanical characteristics of hand coordination in grasping activities of daily living' was written by a team of four researchers, three from Huazhong University in China, and one from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts. Published in the PLOS ONE journal, the fairly conventional study looked at the mechanics of how we grasp things, and involved the measurement of the hand movements of 30 participants. However, members of the scientific community have demanded the paper be retracted, for its several perceived references to the pseudoscientific theory of intelligent design and a possibly divine 'Creator'. In the opening sentences of the study, it claims the link between muscles and hand movements is the product of "proper design by the Creator." Later, it says human hand coordination "should indicate the mystery of the Creator's invention," and concludes by again claiming the mechanical architecture of the hand is the result of "proper design by the Creator."

If that capital C is their work, bad mistake unless they were trying to be provocative -- in which case good for them! The upper case necessarily looks religious -- very -- like when our deist and hedonist founding fathers refer to "divine Providence" etc. in their writings. This discussion shouldn't be necessarily in the first place -- but it is now that we're Babylon. The very existince of our hands, eyes, ears and even fingernail clippings screams creation! Take the simplest unicellular organism and it's prolly still way more complex than the most advanced computer or whatever. Hope the 4 heroes above prevail....... oh, no. As I write, a positively TALMUDIC outrage emerges from the Romanist crypt: near the end of this WRH, the revelation that a Bishop Robert Cunningham is claiming in effect an age of consent of SEVEN YEARS OLD for the priests' kiddie victims!?!??!?!!???! OMG..... THIS mere hours after we finally wound down last nite's RCControversy! I'm really not trying to stoke it up again, but what can you do? I've been saying forever that RCism is simply Judaism for goyim -- the beanies, the doctrine that the traditions of men and the hierarchy are of ultimate authority, not the Scriptures, the radical-chic politics. This monster is all but QUOTING Rabbi(d) ben Yohai... sorry, Mart, but it's got to be charted! -------------------------------------------------

Remarkable, isn't it? Heard years ago that 1/10 of the Chinese in China are Christian. Course you hear a lot of things.
