I met a Filipino woman who was accepted as an immigrant to Canada. She did not work. She had several children by different white men. She was told by Canadian officials that they wanted her to make Canada more diverse.

A most unusual spokesman for our point of view -- only gorgeous young blonde in Canada who sees the problem?

(yet again, pure coincidence)

I got turned down for a job bussing tables because of my long, flowing hair back in 1983, does that count?

Prolly due to the lack of a proper hairnet, and not your overwhelming beauty to the ugly toads running the joint.

Could have been my over all messy demeanor, but it's easier to blame it on outright discrimination. McDonalds hates cripples! Where's my refund?

Don't think I will, Lod. I don't particularly like designing the software I'm constrained to, but it pays the bills. And I don't come home smelling like french fries every night, appealing as that is.

Move to Waco and get a whole new life going on. Watch another episode of Fixer-Upper and see the palace that could be yours for dirt cheap.

Any second empire fixer-uppers in Waco? I might go for something like that if the price is right.

Mansard roofs were developed in 16/17th century to con tax collectors 3rd flood was just an attic and should not be taxed under then current Paris' property tax laws.

Regardless of any of that, I just think they are beautiful.

LOL, Lod, with you pitching the place I'd expect it to be along some major highway mistaken for Route 66. Is there a Meineke dealer near there, I just got front brakes replaced a couple years ago and new pads are playing much too large a role in my relocation plans.

Not to worry, Texas is lousy with Meineke shops; that's where Mrs.L's Deville goes every three years to have the resonators replaced, under their "lifetime warranty."

Get the Uhaul ready.

If those bewigged ones could see how the idea took off! My fave SBS books often involved big spooky old houses, not to mention The Tower Trasure and its compelling 1950s Disney treatment.

I generally prefer an offset single story tower, but this house is so well done I had to share:

Oh glory, that's great. Where is it?

In Plainfield where I lived for 7 years there were several pairs of carpenter gothic houses amid the other architectural wonders around town -- lived in one in fact, regrettably shorn of all decoration.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/%22730+watchung+ave%22/@40.6171964,-74.4136996,3a, 75y,178.54h,90t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m4!1sVc8PCglZNcQESBhrucMOJQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!4b1!4m 2!3m1!1s0x0:0xede0716de3fb9f77!6m1!1e1

Never found out why the pairs, 'tis a mystery. The people in the brick one next to mine became great friends and were great racists, but since spending 20+ years away from that watermelon republic in Hawaii have reverted to their New England priggishness. Now they're just an hour away here in the Carolinas but we have no contact since my first ill-fated visit :-o Ironically, she's the one that's still reasonable if impenetrable.
