Members of Ben Carson's presidential campaign team are planning a meeting in Palm Beach, Florida, to discuss plans for his political future, including a push to position him to become s Donald Trump's running mate if he wins the GOP presidential nominee.
The meeting will be held on March 29, reports The Daily Beast, and will include son Ben Carson Jr., former Carson campaign chairman Robert Dees, ex-campaign manager Ed Brookover, treasurer Logan Delaney, and former senior adviser Mike Murray, and multiple sources say that part of the discussion will include a vice-presidential push.
The group will also discuss what to do with the 700,000-name mailing list the campaign gathered. The main Carson-related PAC is already pushing for Carson as Trump's running mate, according to The Hill.
Members of the group would not respond for comment, nor would Shermichael Singleton, who is handling Carson's media requests along with Carson aide Armstrong Williams.
But in addition to Carson announcing his endorsement for Trump, Brookover has already joined Trump's team to head up a "delegate selection team." He referred questions to Trump spokesperson Hope Hicks, who also did not return comment.
Carson has already said he'd be open to becoming Trump's vice-president, commenting that he'd "told Mr. Trump that if it was really going to make a big difference I'd be willing to," The Wall Street Journal reported.
Further, Carson told Newsmax TV earlier this week that he'll work in Trump's administration, at least in an advisory capacity, if Trump wins the race. However, he declined to say exactly what that job would be.
