Print and electronic media march in lockstep, mouthpieces for power, blasting Big Lies worldwide about nonexistent Russian aggression, Russian hoards threatening Europe, Russian warplanes in Syria killing nonexistent moderate rebels and civilians, not ISIS and other terrorist fighters. Hillary Clinton compared Putin to Hitler. Shes militantly anti-Russian. If elected president to succeed Obama, maybe direct confrontation will follow, risking WW III with nuclear weapons able to end life on earth. Western media propaganda is despicable, truth its mortal enemy. A daily drumbeat of managed news misinformation rubbish drowns out what people most need to know. On Saturday, Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov blamed information war waged by Western media for Russias undeserved bad public image. Putin is the worlds preeminent world leader - polar opposite Obama. World peace and stability are his top geopolitical priorities. Hes committed to democratic governance by rule of law principles. He endorses multi-world polarity and mutual cooperation among all nations. Peskov believes infowar harms Moscow and Washington. They say that Russia has a bad public image, he explained on Saturday. Do you know who else now has a bad image - the United States. We are currently in a state of information warfare with the trend-setters in the information space, most notably with the Anglo-Saxons, their media - deplorably substituting anti-Russian propaganda for hard truths. He believes greater Russian integration into the world economy can help change things. We need to advocate for it, he maintains. We need to make our economy more competitive and involved in global competition. Only then will we confidently stand on our feet. At the same time, he has no illusions about easily improved relations after nearly a century of US hostility. As long as Washington wants Western controlled puppet governance replacing sovereign Russian independence, normalized relations remain unattainable. Stephen Lendman lives in Chicago.
