Hes seen Presidents come and go and his position of influence and celebrity gives him a unique ability to speak about what would be the best for the nation. Thats why when asked to be candid about who he thinks is going to win the Presidential nomination Reynolds didnt hesitate and said it would be Trump by a large margin. However he thinks even though Trump will win hes not so sure hes going to do well when it comes to dealing with other nations. TPNN writes: Like a sheriff thats quick on the draw thats how iconic actor Burt Reynolds describes one of the candidates who is, without a doubt, taking a lot of potshots at a lot of people in the 2016 presidential race. The Golden Globe-winning actor says that he personally knows and likes Republican front-runner Donald Trump, but hes concerned that what makes him very good in the business world might not be what America needs in a president. While the 80-year-old thinks the billionaire businessman is nice and he personally likes The Donald, noting hes a good guy, Reynolds added in a recent GQ interview: I just dont know how hed deal with Russia and other countries. To be successful in business you have to be ruthless. But when you are running a country and dealing with other countries, ruthlessness doesnt work all the time. Reynolds who has been making movies and TV shows for more than 55 years hit his Hollywood stride in the 70s and 80s with such rambunctious, red-necky film fare as Smokey and the Bandit, Cannonball Run, Stroker Ace and Sharkys Machine. He recently spoke with The Daily Beast about the GOP front-runner whom he claims to know pretty well. I dont think theres any question that Donald is going to be nominated. You know, our current president has kind of messed things up the last four years. But I dont know who I would vote for. The two legends have a common history that extends back 30 years when the they each owned football teams in the now-defunct USFL. At the time, Reynolds blamed Trumps personal ambitions for sinking the league. Reynolds, who says he is neither a Democrat nor a Republican, told the Daily Beast that hes concerned that Trump would get us into a war, because hes all for certain things. He added: I like him very much personally. I know him, and I like him. Hes always been nice and sweet and kind to me. But he seems to be like a sheriff thats quick on the draw. So who would make a good president, according to the movie icon who is now promoting his documentary The Bandit? If any actor was going to run for office, it should be Jon Voight, stated Reynolds. I think hes quite brilliant in terms of handling himself and he always knows whats going on in politics. The two actors worked together in the 1972 thriller Deliverance, widely acclaimed as a tough, edgy, landmark motion picture. Its interesting to see Reynolds main concern with Trump being President is that he might get us into a war. Its true, Trump is ruthless, hes also cunning and hes been smart enough to surround himself with people who are as qualified if not more qualified than he is in order to build his empire. That means if he were the President it doesnt mean hes going to blunder his way through diplomatic relationships. Hell definitely need to clean up the mess Obama made but its not like hes going to be selling us out to Iran either. Do you think Reynolds is onto something? Poster Comment: I think Burt gets it.
