Dead Constitution See other Dead Constitution Articles Title: From my cold, dead hands From my cold, dead hands Posted on March 28, 2016 by Rick Sapp murder I admired Charlton Heston. He was a fine man and a fine actor in the style of the 50s. Of course, some of that stage style is timeless and some of it makes one laugh now because it is so unnatural. He was a solid Democrat who became a solid Republican. We may best remember him for his role as president of the NRA and his 2000 from my cold, dead hands comments. What did that commentary mean from my cold, dead hands? Heston meant that you had to get involved; you had to join with like-minded others; you had to express your opinion; you had to contribute to political campaigns and you had to vote. heston His cold, dead hands comment was something of a taunt. At face value it meant that if a politician wanted to seize his firearms, they would have to fight him and win and that he would die before he gave up his 2nd Amendment right. Heston joined; he was involved; he contributed; he spoke out for candidates such as Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater and against the little cancers eating away at our society such as political correctness. Perhaps he foresaw a time (after all, he played Moses, the mouthpiece of God to the wandering Jewish people, in the 1956 movie The Ten Commandments) when politicians would require the police to knock at your door to confiscate your firearms. And isnt that the very case in some states which have effectively banned high-capacity magazines, semi-automatic rifles (often mistakenly called automatics or machine guns by the ignorant media), and military-styled assault rifles? And of course, there are moves afoot in states from California to Maryland and Connecticut to prohibit the civilian ownership of semi-automatic pistols. If you believe it cant happen in America if you believe your gun ownership is protected by the U.S. Constitution well, you might be right and you might be wrong. But which side do you believe Hillary Clinton or Michael Bloomberg or Bernie Sanders will come down on? How quickly do you believe it will take for the RINOs (Republican in Name Only) we elect to cave into the loud and insistent media mouthpieces like Piers Morgan or Bob Costas or Cornel West? Its interesting to Google websites like StateoftheMedia.org to check out who owns the media in America the newspapers, the television and radio stations, the access to high speed Internet because these very few companies wield immense power. Which brings us back to Charlton Hestons cold dead hands claim, because if the elites who seem intent on destroying America as we know it and Im just back from 10 days in Colombia [Medellin, Bogota, and Cartagena] so I have something futuristic, prophetic, and absolutely horrible to compare us to who want to bring millions of immigrants into the U.S. and export millions of jobs to Mexico and China and India if these people have their way, their community will look like a tiny marble that sits atop a vast earth of impoverished slaves. When a squad car pulls up to your door, and the cop reads your name off a list and asks you to turn over your Smith & Wesson or your Ruger, its too late. At that point, you will think of your children and your spouse and your house and the Caribbean vacation
and you will cave and hand over whatever they require. At that point, your anger and advocacy and righteous indignation will be all for naught. Too late. So the moment your time comes to get involved or make a small contribution or vote arrives, be sure you answer the call. Im not suggesting that you vote strictly on the question of the 2nd Amendment or your concealed carry privilege, even though I believe that, imperfect as it is, it is a cornerstone of the American system. Im suggesting that you get involved right now. Even if we lose the next presidential election to the Democratic machine that is relentlessly trying to put Bill Clinton back into the White House, we can perhaps elect Republicans with spines, those who will enter office with a guarantee to watch our backs in essence, to use Mr. Trumps slogan without making it sound like an endorsement, to Make America Great Again. Poster Comment: Heston was the best and he is sorely missed. Post Comment Private Reply Ignore Thread
