I'm not sure but I think restaurants routinely throw away a lot of their stuff by law. It's certainly not going to my local soup kitchen -- ugh, the food's terrible there anymore and has always been homemade.

I think I know what you mean although I have never worked the kitchens. Did homeless shelter though. But still City Harvest makes sense.
Well of course it makes sense in a sense, but the only thing that really makes sense is for people to live right, or at least as sensibly as they did in say 1900 AD. Vastly lest waste, vastly less do-goodery, perforce vastly more self-reliance and therefore a MUCH whiter population. We don't know that they did it sensibily then either. I suspect there were fakers in those days too. But there are some who really need food and shelter. You give just in case.
