42 States And Counting This State Just Said Yes To Suppressors 46652574_s
Earlier in 2016, the Hearing Protection Act was passed by large margins in both the House (78-21) and the Senate (46-4). This act, known as the HPA, is yet another effort geared towards safety for shooters by providing valuable protection for their hearing. As an added benefit, it also reduces noise pollution complaints in more populated regions near shooting ranges.
On 31 March of 2016, Governor Terry Branstad (R) also signed the Hearing Protection Act, allowing the shooters in his state to enjoy the benefits of added layers of protection.
The act was opposed by Michael Bloomberg-funded Moms Demand Action, but to no avail. The NRA-ILAs Chris Cox expounded:
The good people of Iowa were not misled by the lies out-of-state gun control groups were spreading in Iowa. This law will make it easier for Iowas gun owners to protect their hearing with the proven technology of firearm suppressors. Suppressors also reduce noise complaints at ranges. People in the shooting sports take safety seriously and want to be good neighbors.
Many congratulations to Iowa, for embracing a safer shooting platform for its citizens!
