this is pretty good, she wins in the end. I know that DUI checkpoints have been upheld in Calif courts, but I am not sure if the same has been done for compulsory ID checks. She said there was no probable cause for them to demand id, and she refused to show it. Hence that is probably why they let her go.

Assholes.

....and perhaps even worse than their actions, the cops simply do not see or understand that they are acting in derogation of the Constitution. They have been successfully immersed in The State and probably are lost forever.

This is how all communists start out.

Show your papers.

The courts uphold such.

The way that cops have morphed into thugs of the state is amazing; I can remember when peace officers were actually respected...

Showing your age.

That was when police were public servants, now they are government Gestapo.

I'm not sure why, if it's because its a blessing, or am getting older, or more mellow, or what, but in the past several years I've found that the great majority of law enforcement I encounter are very professional and courteous folks.

just the other day , I won't go into the whole story, but I had one cop tell me 'well you don't have to be so condescending,'. he thought I was being condescending to him, but he told me very politely, almost as if his feelings were hurt, LOL.

I can remember a time when police were rarely seen, rarely NEEDED.

Shes right, their is a difference between inspecting someone for intoxication and demanding to see their papers.
