Donald Trump took a major step toward sewing up the Republican presidential nomination Tuesday with a victory in Indiana's primary election, dashing the hopes of rival Ted Cruz and other GOP forces who fear the brash businessman will doom their party in the general election.

While Trump can't mathematically clinch the GOP nomination with his victory in Indiana, his path now becomes easier and he has more room for error in the remaining primary contests. The real estate mogul will collect at least 45 of Indiana's 57 delegates, and now needs less than 200 more in upcoming contests.

"Thank you Indiana, we were just projected to be the winner," Trump wrote on Twitter. "We have won in every category. You are very special people — I will never forget!"

Cruz has vowed to stay in the race through the final primaries in June, clinging to the possibility that Trump will fall short of the 1,237 delegates he needs and the race will go to a contested convention. But he now could face pressure from donors and other Republicans to at least tone down in attacks on Trump in an attempt to unite the GOP heading into the general election.

Whether a united Republican Party is even possible with Trump at the helm remains highly uncertain. Even before the Indiana results were finalized, some conservative leaders were planning a Wednesday meeting to assess the viability of launching a third party candidacy to compete with Trump in the fall.

This garbage is like the elites saying the sky would fall if Reagan were ever elected.

“The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out... without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable.” ~ H. L. Mencken

Possibly because Rand still wants to be 'connected' to the establishment? Not saying Trump won't be.

I just said, privately, this:

" I wouldn't call Trump a modern day Republcan. He transcends that.

Of course all this is probably too good to be true.

He could even be on the same team as them, we don't know.

I hope Trump has had some direct conversations initiated by the Lord.

He could end up proposing to annex Israel for all we know !!!?? lol ahaha"

Trump said yesterday that he would make a political vp pick; someone that is an insider, essentially.

I can't get away from Soros in the short end of the equation to their Trump problem. What has Trump had to say about Soros, anything ?

Gee, Ron Paul comes to mind, but I think ol' Ron blew that one by going on the record against Trump.

Ends? Probably just beginning.

FWIW, I just saw an article at Rivero's WRH. Says the only VP pick to keep Trump safe would be Ron Paul, the only GOPer hated more than Trump. LOL.

LOL ! Ron Paul meant well at one point. I believe it. Who knew freedom was popular ? Maybe Rand is a rogue Paul. Or maybe they are both (heck, including Donald) part of the same theater.
