One topic on which Hitler was unmistakably correct was the dangers of smoking. Hitler considered smoking a disgusting habit and forbid smoking in any of his headquarters complexes (much to the dismay of his advisers, SS personnel, and military leaders). He further spoke on the negative health effects of smoking, was of the opinion that smoking damaged the lungs, and was most likely the cause of several terminal diseases. Bear in mind, this was the 1940s when everyone smoked, there was little science yet on nicotine addiction and lung cancer, nor was anti-smoking sentiment very widespread. In this aspect Hitler was way ahead of his time.
