C2C... Construction workers in Saudi Arabia tasked with filling in a hole found their job to be particularly difficult when the pit began suddenly spewing the sand back out at them!
The strange phenomenon, known as a 'desert blowhole,' baffled the workers as they threw debris and other materials into the chasm and subsequently watched the items blasted high into the air.
Desert blowholes are believed to be caused by a difference in density and temperature between the air found in pockets underground and the atmosphere above ground.
And while such events can cease if the two types of air reach a similar temperature, that's little consolation to the construction workers, who likely had a long day of filling and re-filling the pesky sand geyser.
