War, War, War See other War, War, War Articles Title: The Charade of Ceasefire in Syria While Fighting Rages The Charade of Ceasefire in Syria While Fighting Rages by Stephen Lendman A Monday US/Russia joint statement “reconfirm(ing) (their) commitment to (ceasefire)” belies reality on the ground. Moscow supports what Washington rejects while claiming otherwise. Extending a “regime of calm” in Aleppo another 48 hours until midnight Wednesday failed to halt fighting. Aleppo remains a major flashpoint. Regaining full government control of Syria’s former largest city and commercial hub is crucial to hopes for liberating Syria from the scourge of US-backed terrorism. On Monday, Syrian media reported terrorist groups continued attacking Aleppo neighborhoods with rockets and mortar fire, “causing material damage to public and private property,” civilians remaining in harm’s way. Hundreds were killed in recent days. Rogue Western and regional officials are in Paris talking peace while supporting continued war. Conflict resolution is unattainable because Washington rejects it, intending to keep Syria on the boil to destroy its sovereignty, oust Assad and replace him with a US-controlled puppet regime ahead of planning the same fate for Iran. Russia keeps working tirelessly for peace, a futile effort because Washington undermines it. US- supported terrorists continue indiscriminate attacks on civilians. Hordes of new fighters enter Syria daily, mainly through Turkey. Moscow and Washington saying they’re “determined to redouble efforts to reach a political settlement…consistent with” Security Council Resolution 2254 ignores reality on the ground. Endless war rages, America committed to continue it throughout the region and beyond. Peace and stability defeat its imperial agenda. Permanent wars serve it. Obama is the latest in a long line of warrior presidents, waging multiple direct and proxy wars throughout his tenure while claiming America seeks peace - the biggest of all Big Lies. US wars won’t end because Washington wants them continued endlessly - Wall Street and war profiteers benefitting hugely at the expense of humanity. Stephen Lendman lives in Chicago.
