I tried to respond to an article posted on Liberty Post.

I referenced DELPHI. Both times my posts were "empty," ie, no "Looks good, post it."

Strange?

What is LP?

I heard it was run by a guy named Badeye. Apparently LP stands for "Little Pecker". I don't know the URL.

Yes. I simply posted "DELPHI" in my reply and it would not post.

Then someone has the filter set on "Profanity Filter".. somehow it's been set for words other than the profanity.. I dunno maybe ask Neil since it's his software he might know.

One of posts that didn't have "delphi" made it; the following post that had "delphi" in it did not post:

It's a way of organizing behavior .. often used to achieve consensus..

Here's a link to FR LOL about using Delphi:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1032299/posts

But it can be used on forums..not just in meetings.. amazing to see it work..

"No, the question is "Are you practicing the Delphi protocol?"

That posted.

A question after that didn't.

I don't believe that I used the phrase "Delphi technique."

Perhaps it was a server "burp?"

If so, it happened twice.

I don't know. Not trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. Just wondering if "DELPHI" is some sort of curse word on LP.

It is fascinating.. and once you realize what is happening then you get wise to it.. Educators use it a lot.. for meetings.. putting groups together and they want the group to reach a consensus.. the outcome is already decided essentially..

From the FR post.

The method works. It is very effective with parents, teachers, school children, and any community group. The "targets" rarely, if ever, know that they are being manipulated. If they do suspect this is happening, they do not know how to end the process.

This worked like a charm with an ex-foreman I worked with. I would tell a co- worker to plant an idea in his head and as soon as he repeated it to the crew one of us would chime in, "Great idea, Ray," and he would stick out his chest and troop back to the pickup like a big shot. Little did he know that we got what we wanted from him. ;0)

The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic State itself. That, in its essence, is Fascism -- ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power. Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Thanks LP... now I have two great resources for international newspapers... that is how I found THIS site in the first place.

Much appreciated!

The profanity filter only works on the S & F words, and wouldn't prevent posting anyway as those words just get asterisks inserted. The only thing that matches that description is if it was detected as a duplicate post. Either that or there was some kind of snafu with the connection when you were trying to post, but I'd bet that it was detected as a dup post.

There's nothing in the software that would prevent posting based on content except if it was a dup post.

BTW: I have a better name for the software .... Microsoft Internet Exploder.

The name "delphi" is derived from the Greek religion where adherents would consult an "oracle" for understanding.

There were much better articles than that one back in the day.

Thanks Neil.. I didnt know if the s/w was any different therefore if it was possible to add words etc.. thanks for the explanation.

It's mainly known for being a huge automotive parts manufacturer, which recently filed for bankruptcy. But it is also a computer programming language, based on Pascal, made by Borland.
