At that age I was well aware of gender, was too busy trying to stay alive be be swayed by "societal pressure" to accept queers as anything other than queers.

I worked at the florist shop in Chicago as a young man. All of the designers, the book keeper and the owner were all queers. Just me and the other delivery man were straight. They always kidded me about marching in the Clark St. (Gay Day) parade. I never would. But not all the florist shops were that way. One I worked at had three delivery vans and delivered all over the city and suburbs. They even had female designers. I've always been a truck driver of sorts my whole life until now. Now I work every day here in southwest Missouri.
