WhoRU: What is Right
vs. What Will Work?
Host: Eric Williams
Website: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/whoru
Call-in Number: 800-313-9443
Time: Saturday, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm CST

WhoRU?? Eric is tired of listening to the same old, "Go no where - eat meet and retreat,
" tripe continually regurgitated by those aggravated by the Unconstitutional acts of the
government who advise everyone to re-educate their neighbors - it hasn't happened in forty
years and, lets face it, it ain't ever going to happen. It is time to take a hard look at what
does not work and why, discard the proven unworkable and employ the realistic. Eric fairly
well agrees with the basic philosophy of most free thinking libertarians
(Eric is a Lysander Spooner Anarchist with a strong pragmatic survival inclination); however
Eric differs from the average patriot in that Eric presents a viable, workable "no cost" solution
that can easily be applied by any and all individuals serious about exercising their individual
personal sovereignty, without the necessity of converting the entire population before personally
reaping the benefits of freedom. Eric has gone back to the beginning, July 4, 1776, located a thread
of immunity and followed that thread through the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Amendments. Eric has
determined obtaining immunity is as simple as acknowledging that no one knows when they were born.
We cannot get to where we want to be from where we ought to be until we first get to where we ought
to be and we cannot get to where we ought to be until we first admit we are where we are. Eric takes
calls from listeners without a screener. Once you get in you are free to challenge or, perhaps, even
agree with Eric's analysis

13th. Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

The "right to contract" is specified in the Constitution also but EVERY TIME you sign your name you are making a "contract" which violate the above 13th amendment. BUT it is not a "violation" because you "volenteered".

LOL

The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic State itself. It's on their site. I would think they should not lie about it. But there is really no way to prove it unless you happen to be in China and try to get it at an internet cafe. I wouldn't be surprised since Spooner is indeed a radical in his political thought and the Chicoms would see anything such as that as a threat to their power.

"Google's launch of a new, self-censored search engine in China is a "black day" for freedom of expression, a leading international media watchdog says. "

So, China is not STOPPING people from seeing the site, GOOGLE is.

There is an ENORMOUS difference between saying that CHINA is stopping certain things from being accessed in their country and that GOOGLE is WILLINGLY DOING it.

And just HOW is China gonna stop them?

You can't STOP the internet from getting to my computer. SO, there is no way for them to stop Google from getting into China uncensored.

GOOGLE engaged in CENSORSHIP by agreeing with China's REQUEST. They didn't have to do it, they CHOSE to do it.

Google to censor itself in China

Thursday, January 26, 2006 Posted: 0540 GMT (1340 HKT)

(CNN) -- Internet search engine Google has rolled out a China-based version of its popular Web site -- one that bows to Beijing's censorship laws and will edit the content of its results.

Google.cn -- the Chinese language version of the search portal -- debuted Wednesday with the company acknowledging the balancing act it was attempting to perform.

"In order to operate from China, we have removed some content from the search results available on Google.cn, in response to local law, regulation or policy," a Google statement said.

"While removing search results is inconsistent with Google's mission, providing no information (or a heavily degraded user experience that amounts to no information) is more inconsistent with our mission."

Google said it intends to report to users when information is removed from search results. The company says it does the same thing in response to local laws in Germany, France and the United States.

Prior to Wednesday's debut in China, Google operated the Chinese-language version of the search engine through a link on its U.S. Web site, http://Google.com.

Previously, the Beijing government blocked the results of search requests that violated its regulations. The new Google site will self-censor based on Chinese law.

The Google statement said the tradeoff for going against its basic principle of making the "world's information universally available and accessible" is gaining greater access to a quickly growing Chinese economy.

"As an emerging economic powerhouse, China is developing rapidly, thanks in no small measure to the Internet," Google said. "We firmly believe, with our culture of innovation, Google can make meaningful and positive contributions to the already impressive pace of development in China."

Google's cooperation with the Chinese government comes on the heels of the company's resistance to a U.S. Justice Department subpoena, asking Google to turn over a week's worth of search results.

The request is part of a case designed to protect children from Internet porn.

Google said the government query "overreaches."

http://edition.c nn.com/2006/BUSINESS/01/25/google.china/

This article makes it very clear that Google did not, willy nilly choose to do it on their own, they did it under pressure/contract by the Chineese Gov't.

GOP using churches for recruiting

http://www.washingtonpost.c om/wp- dyn/content/article/2006/02/17/AR2006021701978.html

By Alan Cooperman
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, February 18, 2006; Page A19

The North Carolina Republican Party asked its members this week to send their church directories to the party, drawing furious protests from local and national religious leaders.

"Such a request is completely beyond the pale of what is acceptable," said the Rev. Richard Land, head of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention.

During the 2004 presidential race, the Bush-Cheney campaign sent a similar request to Republican activists across the country. It asked churchgoers not only to furnish church directories to the campaign, but also to use their churches as a base for political organizing.

The tactic was roundly condemned by religious leaders across the political spectrum, including conservative evangelical Christians. Ten professors of ethics at major seminaries and universities wrote a letter to President Bush in August 2004 asking him to "repudiate the actions of your re-election campaign," and calling on both parties to "respect the integrity of all houses of worship."

Officials of the Republican National Committee maintained that the tactic did not violate federal tax laws that prohibit churches from endorsing or opposing candidates for office, and they never formally renounced it. But Land said he thought the GOP had backed down.

"I heard nothing further about it, so my assumption was that it stopped, at least at the national level," he said.

Yesterday, the Greensboro News & Record reported that the North Carolina Republican Party was collecting church directories, and it quoted two local pastors as objecting to the practice. The Rev. Richard Byrd Jr. of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Greensboro said anyone who sent in a directory "would be betraying the trust of the membership," and the Rev. Ken Massey of the city's First Baptist Church said the request was "encroaching on sacred territory."

Chris Mears, the state party's political director, made the request in a Feb. 15 memo titled "The pew and the ballot box" that was sent by e-mail to "Registered Republicans in North Carolina."

Mears said the "Republican National Committee has completed a study on grass- roots activity that reveals that people who regularly attend church usually vote Republican when they vote."

"In light of this study's findings, it is imperative that we register, educate and get these potential voters from the pew to the ballot box. To do this we must know who these people are," the memo continued.

"I am requesting that you collect as many church directories as you can and send them to me in an effort to fully register, educate and energize North Carolina's congregations to vote in the 2006 elections," it said.

It added that the "North Carolina Republican Party holds your church's directory in strict confidence" and will not use it "to solicit church members for any other reason."

You tell me where is says they are doing it of their own volition.

The OPENING sentence.

"Google to censor itself in China "

Google to censor ITSELF, that is a volitional act.

Nice try, thanks for playing...

SINCE IT WRITES THE CODE IT ONLY "LOOKS" LIKE THEIR VOLITION BUT WHY WOULD THEY WANT TO DO THAT? THEY SAID TO MEET THE GOV'T REQUIREMENTS.

Yes they do it under orders from the gov't.

Zip,

This does not in any way take away from the fact that GOOGLE engaged in SELF CENSORSHIP, China simply made a request.

China can not force Google to censor themselves, NOR can they stop Google from getting into their country.

My initial assertion was that China could not BAN Google from their country.

Which is correct, they can't.

How, exactly would China KEEP THEM OUT?

The Chinese Government can't stop them from operating in China.

Then you contact them and tell them not to censor the sites that the Dictatorship is telling them to.

And get back to us when you succeed, following your orders and NOT of the orders from the China Gov't.

I'll even bet you money you don't succeed.
