Amendment to the U.S. Constitution Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation. The "right to contract" is specified in the Constitution also but EVERY TIME you sign your name you are making a "contract" which violate the above 13th amendment. BUT it is not a "violation" because you "volenteered". Poster Comment: These shows you'll have to listen to a number of times before it sinks in, at least for me it was. "Such a request is completely beyond the pale of what is acceptable," said the Rev. Richard Land, head of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention. During the 2004 presidential race, the Bush-Cheney campaign sent a similar request to Republican activists across the country. It asked churchgoers not only to furnish church directories to the campaign, but also to use their churches as a base for political organizing. The tactic was roundly condemned by religious leaders across the political spectrum, including conservative evangelical Christians. Ten professors of ethics at major seminaries and universities wrote a letter to President Bush in August 2004 asking him to "repudiate the actions of your re-election campaign," and calling on both parties to "respect the integrity of all houses of worship." Officials of the Republican National Committee maintained that the tactic did not violate federal tax laws that prohibit churches from endorsing or opposing candidates for office, and they never formally renounced it. But Land said he thought the GOP had backed down. "I heard nothing further about it, so my assumption was that it stopped, at least at the national level," he said. Yesterday, the Greensboro News & Record reported that the North Carolina Republican Party was collecting church directories, and it quoted two local pastors as objecting to the practice. The Rev. Richard Byrd Jr. of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Greensboro said anyone who sent in a directory "would be betraying the trust of the membership," and the Rev. Ken Massey of the city's First Baptist Church said the request was "encroaching on sacred territory." Chris Mears, the state party's political director, made the request in a Feb. 15 memo titled "The pew and the ballot box" that was sent by e-mail to "Registered Republicans in North Carolina." Mears said the "Republican National Committee has completed a study on grass- roots activity that reveals that people who regularly attend church usually vote Republican when they vote." "In light of this study's findings, it is imperative that we register, educate and get these potential voters from the pew to the ballot box. To do this we must know who these people are," the memo continued. "I am requesting that you collect as many church directories as you can and send them to me in an effort to fully register, educate and energize North Carolina's congregations to vote in the 2006 elections," it said. It added that the "North Carolina Republican Party holds your church's directory in strict confidence" and will not use it "to solicit church members for any other reason."

Zip, This does not in any way take away from the fact that GOOGLE engaged in SELF CENSORSHIP, China simply made a request. China can not force Google to censor themselves, NOR can they stop Google from getting into their country. My initial assertion was that China could not BAN Google from their country. Which is correct, they can't.

WHY? To make more MONEY because they are a greedy corporation. Google CHOSE willingly to engage in CENSORSHIP because they wanted to make even MORE money. That is the ONLY reason that they acted, they did not fear being banned by the Chinese government, because China CAN'T stop them. They just did what would make them the most money because they don't care about censorship, they care about PROFITS. Google willingly engaged in censorship.

Cell phones require cell phone towers, construction and operation of which towers are under Chinese control. Satellites require dishes, construction and operation of which dishes are ground-based which again puts them under Chinese control. Google can't build a business on the few illicit accesses that might be pirated, China can effectively block/filter anything within their borders, so Gogle cooperates, just every other company doing business in China does it largely on China's terms. But, being a digestor of large volumes of information daily, you already knew all that, didn't you, but that didn't stop your specious arguments, did it.

Satellite phones do NOT require ground based access to China, Star. They can't control all internet access to China. Unless they control all the satellites. My statement stands unrefuted. Nice try, and thanks so much for playing.

They broadcast a wider dispersion at higher power levels and they're easier to hunt down. Why do you think Osama and Co., stopped using them? Their power consumption also prevents them from being used very long. People might risk their lives to smuggle Bibles into China. Just because they can track down satellite phones does NOT mean that you can't get access to the internet inside of China if you want to. The issue was not the number of people who will employ a given method, it was whether or not China could BAN Google from being received uncensored inside of their borders. They can't. Google willingly chose to engage in censorship. Again, my point stands unrefuted. Nice try... but again, not good enough. You will get a lovely home version of our game, young man.

I have a story to tell you about a friend and his wife. This is perfect example of what Erik Williams is talking about. They were on a main throughfare stoping at a light. The state trouper,next to them, noticed the driver had no seat belt on (actually no schoulder harness). As they turned the Trouper followed them and pulled them over. Trooper: "Do you know why I stopped you?" Joyce: "No" Trooper: "I noticed you didn't have your seat belt on." Joyce: "Yes I do." (she put it on as soon as she saw him.) Trooper: "You didn't when I first saw you." Joyce: "Can you prove it?" He asked for her drivers license and she said she didn't have one. Trooper: "What is your name?" LOL, satellite phones are even easier to track. They broadcast a wider dispersion at higher power levels and they're easier to hunt down. Why do you think Osama and Co., stopped using them? Their power consumption also prevents them from being used very long.

The issue was not the number of people who will employ a given method, it was whether or not China could BAN Google from being received uncensored inside of their borders. They can't.
