Trey Gowdy channeled their outrage in his epic confrontation with Comey when he testified in front of Congress. And now there’s a video going viral of Gowdy explaining why he believes Clinton dodged charges. Recently, Gowdy appeared on Fox News Channel’s The Kelly File to discuss his showdown with the FBI Director. When Comey testified to Congress, Gowdy expressed clear frustration that the FBI director could detail all the ways Clinton lied about her conduct, yet was still able to escape being charged of a crime. Gowdy was asked during his interview if he thought politics played a role in the outcome of Hillary’s email scandal. According to the show’s transcript, Gowdy responded: KELLY: Do you think politics were at play here in his decision? GOWDY: Boy, the second one is tough, but I’ll tell you why. Yes, I think he’s a straight shooter. I think the exact same thing about Jim Comey that I did this time last week and I will this time next week. I think he’s a straight arrow. We just fundamentally disagree on that element and whether or not he could have proven intent by circumstantial evidence. Did politics influence it? I can tell you based on my previous life, it is always tougher to convict or prosecute someone who is well known. KELLY: Mm-hmm. GOWDY: It just is. And just days before the FBI would announce that charges would not be brought against Clinton, Hillary announced she would possibly keep Loretta Lynch as Attorney General if she won the election.
