War, War, War See other War, War, War Articles Title: The New York Times Plummet from Grace The New York Times Plummet from Grace by Stephen Lendman Its not the newspaper of record. Its the voice of wealth, power and privilege - supporting tyranny over democracy, war over peace, state terror over fundamental freedoms, propaganda over hard truths. The late Gore Vidal called The Times the Typhoid Mary of American journalism for good reason. Today its little more than a laughing stock, making conventional yellow journalism look good by comparison. Supporting the Clinton crime family shows how low The Times has sunk, their agenda reflecting pure evil, a menace too unacceptable to tolerate. Independent journalism and opinion arent welcome on Times pages. Instead war-mongering neocons like Max Boot are featured, his July 31 op-ed, calling Republicans the stupid party for nominating Trump. A torrent of ad hominem viciousness followed, a thinly veiled Hillary endorsement without naming her - one neocon lunatic supporting another. Calling Trump an unapologetic ignoramus substitutes for explaining a corrupted electoral process, all duopoly players vying for the nations highest office tools of powerful interests. They represent privilege, not populism; war, not peace; dirty business as usual, not governance of, by and for everyone equitably and fairly. America is a pariah state, driven by lust for power and greed, contemptuous of rule of law principles and democratic values, a bipartisan criminal class in charge. Its a society thriving on endless wars of aggression against nonbelligerent states, imperial dominance driving its agenda, mass slaughter and destruction considered a small price to pay, human welfare and dignity of no consequence. Carpet-bombing its will on others makes America the greatest ever threat to humanitys survival. Party conventions eulogized the unthinkable, testimonies to Americas deplorable state, supported by media scoundrels, The New York Times, because of its global reach and influence, worst of all. The horror of a bad ending awaits, Americans too out-of-touch and indifferent to notice. I agonize over what I have no power to prevent except to show up every day and do battle against the forces of evil threatening our survival as best I can - hoping the pen one day will be mightier than the sword. I ache for a way to stop villainy too unacceptable to tolerate. I doubt much time remains to try. Stephen Lendman lives in Chicago. He can be reached at lendmanstephen@sbcglobal.net. Stephen! You're not supposed to actually CALL evil evil. Get in step with the times, please -- just act as if it's always been this way and so what. If people start realizing there's actual concentrated evil in their media, their politics, their breakfast cereal, it would distract them from their groovily worthless bread-and-circuses existence. Repeat after me: the Times isn't evil, it just disagrees with us on a few issues.
