Then she lied about lying. And it could damage her campaign. In an interview on Fox News Sunday, Hillary Clinton claimed the FBI backed up everything she said about her unsecured private email server. CBS News reports: On Sunday morning, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton told Fox News Sunday that FBI Director James Comey said she was truthful when discussing her handling of classified information and her private email server. Director Comey said my answers were truthful, and what Ive said is consistent with what I have told the American people, she said. That there were decisions discussed and made to classify retroactively certain of the emails. Clinton was responding to a question from host Chris Wallace, in which he asked her about her previous assertions that she never sent nor received any information that was classified at the time, or anything that was marked classified. But the left-leaning fact checker PolitiFact judged her statement a massive fib. They even gave her their rating of pants on fire, which is their strongest declaration that a politician is lying. PolitiFact writes: Clinton said regarding the presence of classified information in her email, FBI Director James Comey said my answers were truthful, and what Ive said is consistent with what I have told the American people. A reasonable person would interpret Clintons statement to mean that Comey has endorsed her public remarks about her email. This is not the case. Talking specifically about Clintons closed-door FBI interview, Comey said there is no basis to conclude she lied to the FBI about her email practices. But Comey has specifically declined to comment on whether Clintons public remarks have been accurate. Further, while not explicitly rebuking Clintons public comments, Comey highlighted a major problem with them. Clinton repeatedly said she did not have any classified information whatsoever in her email, marked or unmarked. After the FBI investigation, including the interview with Clinton, Comey said she unequivocally did. We rate her claim Pants on Fire. After Hillary was called out for lying, she issued an odd clarification. CNN reports: Hillary Clinton attempted to clarify Friday recent misleading statements about her use of a private email server at the State Department, saying she may have short-circuited her answers about it. At a gathering of black and Hispanic journalists in Washington, D.C., Clinton who has come under fire for not often taking media questions was asked about her recent assertion that FBI Director James Comey had said she was truthful to the public in discussing the issue, a claim that a number of media outlets, including CNN, have debunked. I was pointing out in both of those instances, that Director Comey had said that my answers in my FBI interview were truthful. That really is the bottom line here, she said. What I told the FBI, which he said was truthful, is consistent with what I have said publicly. I may have short-circuited and for that I will try to clarify. But she continues to lie and claims she never sent or received classified information on her unsecured private email server. FBI Director Comey proved this a lie when he noted that there were emails marked classified on her server. Post Comment Private Reply Ignore Thread
