Tactical and Preparedness Newsletter In case you don’t know, on Saturday, an officer stopped a car in Milwaukee. An occupant of the car got out, tried to flee, and turned towards the officer while holding a gun in his hand. The officer responded to the lethal threat by shooting the suspect. The suspect died. Both the officer and the suspect were black. As a result, rioting broke out that involved gunshots, burning businesses & cars, and damaging police cars. The National Guard was called in and curfews enacted. Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke made some eye-opening statements on Fox Business in response to the rioting. “The social order in Milwaukee totally collapsed” “When tribal behavior takes over, the law of the jungle takes the rule of law.” “…massive black unemployment…dysfunctional families…questionable lifestyle choices. Those are the ingredients for a riot.” I don’t know about you, but I live in a great area and his statements STILL hit close to home. Milwaukee gave us another warning this weekend…did you hear it? The sister of the dead suspect told rioters to stop destroying their neighborhood…that was good, but then she proceeded to tell the rioters to take the rioting to the suburbs. Are you ready for that? In most cities, there are between 1 officer per 4,000 people and 1 officer per 10,000 people on the street at any given time. That’s a VERY thin blue line protecting the sheep from the wolves. I’m thankful that thin blue line is there, but we’ve seen enough riots and mob behavior (especially in the last few months) to know that police don’t have the resources to keep them from happening or stop them on a dime when they do. Whether it's a riot or an attack at a mall, a parade, sporting event, church, school, airport, etc. You need a plan that will actually work and simple enough that you'll actually do it.
