We tend to think of history as a collection of abstract facts that have no bearing on the “real world,” but everything connects across the timeline. Big, world-changing events don’t just change things when they happen; they send out shock waves that reverberate into the present. Like William Faulkner said, “The past is never dead. It’s not even past.”

That is some pretty interesting stuff in the URL article.
To me the most interesting was the fact that passports were almost unheard of until WW1.
I found it interesting that ISIS is fighting against WWI treaties defining some of the modern day Middle East country boundaries. Same with Hungary.
Something I was taught eons ago. No country on earth has ever, nor will ever be inviolate, they remain a country only as long as they can maintain themselves by force. The thought that the United States would remain forever, is false.
