Especially in the kitchen where we are surrounded by so many electrical appliances that we cant imagine living the same life as our grandmothers and great-grandmothers. To help you out, we have prepared a list of some essential kitchen items that every prepper should have and know how to use. 1. Matches: There may be many ways to start a fire, but old-fashioned match sticks are the easiest and most convenient way. 2. Can Opener: A manual can opener will come quite handy when you have to open up several cans after crisis. An inexpensive, dollar store item it wont hurt to keep plenty on hand. 3. Cast Iron Cookware: Cast iron cookware is not only durable and lasts for a lifetime, but also holds pretty well when used over high temperatures or open fire. 4. Stainless Steel cookware and utensils: Stainless steel also has the ability to handle high temperatures of a wood stove. Stainless steel utensils are also durable while plastic ones break over time. 5. Butcher Knives: Knives are an important part of survival planning and preppers who plan to hunt or use their livestock should acquire a butchering kit. The butchering kit comes with several different types of knives, a cutting board, game sheers, a wood-bone saw, etc. it is also a good idea to keep the manual along to guide you through the process when the need arises to use it. 6. Knife sharpening tools: Knives can be very handy in disaster whether for preparing food or for self-defense. Dull knives can be less efficient and be downright unsafe. Learn how to sharpen the blades of your knives and keep them maintained. 7. Water Filter: A water filter is essential to ensure that you and your family members are getting safe and clean drinking water. Various filters are available. Choose the one that you find best. 8. Food Dehydrator: The dehydrator removes the water from the food and minimizes the production of enzymes and bacteria to store food longer. 9. Colander: A metal colander works best to wash and strain vegetables, fruits, and other food items. 10. Wooden spoons: Wooden spoons are sturdy and last longer. They are also ideal to use over a fire as they dont get too hot. 11. 4-cup glass measuring cups: A measuring cup comes in handy when you are doing a lot of cooking and baking. They are especially helpful when measuring out ingredients for soups and stew, which are considered staple survival meals. 12. Vegetable Peeler: A dollar store item, vegetable peelers comes in handy for peeling potatoes, apples, and pears. 13. Cheese Grater: A cheese grater does not only help in shredding cheese, but can also be used to cut pieces of food into fine pieces. 14. Biscuit Cutters: Biscuits are essential prepper food and can be prepared with simple ingredients. A cutter is pretty useful if you are going to be stuck indoors all day and want something to occupy kids with. 15. Mortar and Pestle Set: The sets have been around for thousands of years, but often neglected due to the modern utensils we have. They can efficiently do the job of crushing, grinding, and powdering nuts, herbs, seeds, roots, and teas for all kinds of food. Invest in one now before the grid goes out. These were just some of the items that we recommend keeping in your home in case the power goes out and you are stranded inside your home. That's a good list, but for the many millions living in mega cities, nothing is going to save them. They will kill each other before they starve out. Then they will begin moving into the smaller towns and farming communities where they will be shot on sight. If not by the locals, then by NATO troops. The NATO troops and government loyalists will be hunting the rest of the survivors and will have access to long-life food banks, unlike the average person who will be scrounging for any crumb they can dig off the floor of an old pantry or cafe. Basically, nobody will survive a nuclear war though in any of the leading nations, as they now exist. If the zombies don't get you, radiation and environmental poisoning will.
