NN and Ada Say Farewell

NN and Ada in particular if you are watching...

In the rough and tumble days of the late 90s...

Big mike, a poster living in upstate NY, became unhappy with my postings and stated for all to see that...

"He was coming to PA. and smash my face in". A few urged him on, most, myself included, considered it to be beer talking and let it pass. I did mention I kept a .357, a big dog, the Sheriff was a cuzin, the Judge was my nephew, but feel free to stop by anytime.

Moral to the story????

Over the years, I have offended about every one here at one time or another, in their own way most have thrown bricks my way at one time or another, however,,,,,THIS IS THE ONLY FORUM THAT I HAVE NOT BEEN THROWN OUT OF SINCE THE 90S,,,,

Personally, the only one here that I consider deranged is Turdle, it takes a lot of sufferance to suffer him.

I have enjoyed and annoyed the rest of you.

Cyni...

You certainly have annoyed me, Cyni. I freely admit to that, as though an admission was required. But that was also long ago, relating to what seemed to be -- oh hell, let's be more frank --- what WAS and still is a fetish about how Ron Paul is the anti-christ.

LOL!

But I guess I understand you better now and just accept that.

As for how threats should be taken with a grain of salt, that's not the issue for many. Many here just want a place to socialize and have a little fun, talking to people they agree with, and to be berated about what they think by people here takes away the whole point of hanging out. It's not about threats at all. It's about being welcome or ridiculed. And if ridicule is what they come to expect, they just leave. Simple as that.

So I consider it a shame when that happens. And it has happened. And it may be what spells the end of 4um not too long from now.

Oh, maybe you directed this at me as well. I only made, I think, 1 post on FR, just to get a brief glimpse of how it worked. I only really learned about FR when Sally came to me about making LP.

I did not get banned.

Which 'LP' was that?

Not LibertyPost.com (Goldi-Lox), right?

It indeed is. Goldi-lox was Sally's screen name.

Did YOU build LP?

Tragic Sally died as a complete unknown, alone, and nobody knowing a single family member of hers.

She was cremated in Florida.

Kosher as they come.

Tragic Sally died as a complete unknown, alone, and nobody knowing a single family member of hers.

Not completely true. Nobody knew any of her family members because none of them were still living. Her only child died, and she got divorced. The result was that like many people her age her life turned into go to work and then come home. At a certain age most of us don't have the energy or the enthusiasm we once had for late-night bar hopping,or the patience needed to deal with new friends.

Since she had recently moved to Fla from the northeast, she had no base of long-time local friends. This is true with many people these days.

The saddest part was that because she had retired, she was dead for a few days before anyone checked on her.

Kosher as they come.

And what's wrong with that as long as nobody is requiring you to become kosher?

May have been up to a week. Management at the complex where she lived saw packages piling up by her door.

Her cat lived though, and was adopted by one of the LP crowd.

No,her cat went to the local SPCA. I contacted them and was going to adopt the cat after reading rumors it would be put down because of age or something, and found that the SPCA had already found a good home for it. They even emailed me a photo of the cat that I posted on LP before it shut down. Several people wanted to make sure the cat found a home to honor Goldi and her efforts.

IF it was a LP member that adopted the cat, they never posted about it on LP while we were all discussing it and trying to find out what happened. AFAIK,it was just a random couple looking for a house cat.

===================================

LP got really wacky in it's last year, IMO.

But it is a great historical archive of the ups and downs (mostly downs) and wins and losses (mostly losses) that this country (barely) survived during those years. Impossible to think the country has gone down even further into the pit than anyone imagined back then (but that most predicted accurately).

That LP archive is a good study in what may perhaps may come to be of this website as well.

All of these websites are doomed to fail. Some may survive as community bulletin boards in large metropolitan areas, but the people that fueled them are all geezers now,and dying off or just getting too sick/old/distracted/disgusted to spend the time reading and making posts.

The younger generation that is replacing us are all about Facebook and tweets.

Yeah, and texting as well.

Imagine how ape shit this country would go in 30 minutes over not being able to text after some cataclysmic event that shut it down.

Again, thanks to Christine for keeping it up as long as she did.

What I am imagining is the total loss of the ability for "little people" like us to communicate with large audiences and give out immediate notifications about illegal and/or un-Constitutional activities in our region to a nationwide audience. After all,how far does the typical tweet or text message travel in regards to notifying the public compared to a post on a open web bulletin board with strangers from all over the country, and in some cases, other countries, having immediate access to that information?

I doubt that even stuff like the real details about what happened at places like Ruby Ridge or in Waco would even be known to this day if we had relied on emails, tweets,or text messages to spread the work via individuals we just happen to know.

For all practical purposes when it comes to informing the public,we might as well be back in the 1930's and writing letters.
