During the height of the 2008-09 financial crisis, Times editors failed to denounce bailing out Wall Street banks too big to fail, predatory scam artists, making money by stealing it - through fraud, grand theft, market manipulation, front-running them, pumping and dumping schemes, cheating investors, bribing politicians, having its executives in top administration posts, and getting open- ended low or no interest rate bailouts when needed, taxpayers paying the tab. On October 3, The Times editorial board blasted Mr. Trumps government bailout - double standard reporting at its worst. It got hold of and published his 1995 tax returns, one of its many character assassination actions, implying he acted improperly by claiming legitimate tax breaks for large losses incurred - then saying: Legal or not, this is the kind of handout (sic) no ordinary citizen could hope to get no matter how dire the circumstance - failing to explain ordinary citizen(s) dont operate business empires. Most live from paycheck to paycheck, paying little or no taxes for failing to earn enough from poverty or sub-poverty wages. Tax avoidance through legal loopholes and provisions permitting write-offs for losses is standard business practice. Interviewed on Fox News, Law Professor Jonathan Turley, commenting on Trumps taxes, said (f)rom what I can see, (his actions werent) illegal. In this area, particularly real estate, debt is managed as much as profits
as you can make as much money, believe it or not, with debt, as you can often in moving profits. Theres a thing called a net operating loss where you can
claim losses to investments
to protect you against taxation. Companies do this all the time. As long as tax laws permit it, accountants and financial executives take full advantage. Trumps action was no shocking event. Its standard business practice. The Times reported frequent past operating losses, including in Q 2, 2016 - taking full advantage of tax laws to minimize or avoid taxation. Neocon Washington Post editors relentlessly denigrate Trump daily - in contrast to one-sided support for Hillary, a woman belonging in prison, not high office. Headlining Donald Trumps contempt for American democracy, a tirade of pejoratives followed, largely unrelated to nonexistent democratic governance in America. They bashed his claiming a 1995 $900 million tax loss, implying wrongdoing by exploit(ing) a tax code provision, instead of explaining his action was perfectly legal. They criticized his legitimate concern about possible election-rigging for Hillary - longstanding US practice from the republics early days, today achievable with electronic ease, voter roll stripping and other dirty tricks. Hes laying the groundwork to question the legitimacy of Hillary Clintons victory if she wins, said WaPo editors, calling this line of (legitimate concern) dangerous. An accompanying Tuesday WaPo editorial headlined A President Trump could end the era of American global leadership, saying: He could carry out - or at least order
extrem(ist) proposals - without explaining US presidents operate this way often, especially since the neoliberal 90s, revved up post-9/11, sure to continue no matter who succeeds Obama. WaPo and other media scoundrel editors irresponsibly bash Trumps wanting a new role for NATO, normalized relations with Russia if he meant what he said, and opposing jobs, freedoms and environment-destroying TPP. According to WaPo editors, he could transform the world, very much for the worse. Trump is no anti-war peoples candidate - far from it. Yet if he made positive changes to NATO and normalized relations with Russia alone if elected president, humanity might be saved from the threat of nuclear war - whats likely coming if Hillary succeeds Obama. If Americas global leadership ended under any future US president, imagine how much safer the world would be to live in. Stephen Lendman lives in Chicago. That is normal since the bankers that own the Federal Reserve used their right to counterfeit money to buy up all mainstream media. However, after 60 years of propaganda, a few people are realizing main stream media is propaganda.
