I moved to Oz from the US in 2002. Lately, http://www.LibertyForum.org (LF) has been beset by SQL errors, usually of the nature, 'Too many connections', but doing almost a core dump complete with other error messages. Now one might suspect these errors are truly due to 'too many connections', perhaps from http://www.whatreallyhappened.com 's frequently redirectly their own traffic over to LF. Except I live in Oz, both the other sites are in the US, and the problem actually gets worse when the Yanks are beddy bye. Thus, it seems consistent to me that the problem is Bush administration-generated. In the time the US is wakeful, there is lots of 'net traffic, and less of the DOS gets through. At night (in the US, but not in Oz), there is less US-centric 'net traffic, and more of the DOSes get through. The reason Bush et al would want to shut us all down is obvious. Sever knowledgeable communication, and stifle dissent. I mean, suppose all we ever had for our information input was Bush's State of the Union Speachs, and its spinoffs? Well, that seems to be what it is coming to.

Hi Archie, Lately I have been unable at all to access LF. Though I used to get the 'too many connections' report, now it's 'Cannot connect through socket....' Yesterday I couldn't log on at all! I had a friend try from another computer (different IP) but to avail. This is certainly concerning and rather worrisome. If you learn more about why this is all happening please to let us know. Interesting observation on your part wrt the timing of these 'interuptions' in service.
Hey Archie. I think it's Fahey who's been crashing the site. He lives in South Korea and so his time zone pretty much corresponds with ours. I've noticed that the site has been good for at least 6 hours when he would be sleeping which is a high traffic time for LF. Yet like you said during the night US time it goes to sh*t. He also threatened to "funderbunk" the site as he put it a few days ago just before the major crashes began. Also at the same time CG and OWK let it be known publically how exactly it was possible to crash the site. I think since today though there has been work being done on the site from the server side of things as the MySQL data displayed when you try to get through is different than what it has been the last few days.
It could be my fault. Lately, the mods have criticized me for "flirting with the wimmen" of LF, and, Lord knows BushCo and the Bible Belt Blue Suit Rapture Bunnies have a duty to put a stop to that.
I just tried to get in but still the damn SQL errors, if somebody is trying to kill LF, they are suceeding, people are not going to put with the BS, well then it's off to this site, or many others.
If they're working on it, it would have been nice for someone to come over here and let us know, or send word through email, etc.

If they do manage to get the site operational again it would be a good idea to copy some of the more 'subversive' articles which are archived there. Even print out some hard copies. This is all very suspicious if you ask me... At first I thought perhaps our Kanuckian government was blocking the site for our oppressed masses, but since no one else can apparantly get on, it's obvious something else is up. Too bad too, for even with some of the wingnuts there LF certainly has its moments of crystal clear clarity.
Why don't you smack the nail on the head with a 10 pound ball ping hammer? The blame rests totally on that anal retentive asshole, John Deere for irresponsibly walking away from the site without handing the keys to the source code to anyone. No one can fix the place except him, pal.

Whatever work that may be being done to the site is most likely being done by the mysterious admin "mike" I think his name is or someone like him who does the archiving every so often. These people apparently never reply to the mods and admins we know though are known to be online at times.
At the very least there were a good number of functioning brains there!! Well, that's good. I hope some of them show up here. I'm looking to get one down here on the farm. ;0)

IMO that is the most bizarre issue.. who are they?? I cannot imagine a site running for how long without someone knowing who owns it and who is the sysop who does maintenance etc.. it just doesnt make sense.

I can only guess... CubicleGuy, GJenkins, possibly Astoria and OWK may have a hand in. There are others who know about the wwwthreads software. Obviously Jack Barbara knows plenty about it. I wouldn't be surprised if he hacked the root. I've done it on servers that I inherited. The secretiveness of the founders may prove to be the site's downfall. Shoot, I gave my phone number to a dozen or more people over there and only two ever called me. Must be the spook prefix. ;)

I haven't been able to get in for two days now...and this is during the day. The site seems to be down hard.
i invited askel a couple of months ago. she might come over now that LF is 'out of order'.
It doesn't/didn't make sense but I suppose that was all part of the intrigue of the joint. The mystery of John Deere, his disappearance and who was behind the scenes still providing maintenance up until recently. The domain was paid up for another 12 months in November bringing it current to Feb07.

It has been heartwarming and encouraging to see so many familiars. I too USED to notice an occasional time window, sometimes after trying some of LF's other links, such as Latest Articles, rather than Self Search. But nothing on any of LF's links in the last two days. I imagine it will be very difficult to contact any of the other LFers who are still stuck over there waiting for LF to clear up, and not having any idea where to go. I only found this place because with the increasing frequency of LF's problems, I was moved to search out articles, and found Mind_Virus' "Why I am leaving ...", in which he mentioned this site. I dunno. Maybe Mike would put up a flag on WRH, but I think it might have to be some story, maybe like this one, except it seems there are several explanations less intriguing (and probably more accurate) than mine. And anyway, is this really the best alternative to LF? Not necessarily in terms of quality, but more in terms of look and feel? Hey Rotten. Can you be more specific about exactly which six hours during the day?
There's something else the problem there now as the SQL errors are saying something different for the last 36 hours or so. Before that the site seemed to be good from about midnight my time to about 6-7am and then the dramas would kick in pretty much consistantly after that save a few breaks in between. Yesterday morning our time before it finally collapsed for good I woke up early and got nearly two hours unaffected posting time there. Thanks Rotten. It's 4:47am Friday, and LF is totally stuffed. I just registered at NOLAJBS, although for some reason a lady had already registered 'Archie' two years ago, made two posts total in all the time since, and that was that. So I'm trying 'ArchieJ'. Looks like NOLAJBS has closer look and feel to it.
The day it went down completely it was surprisingly good most of the day. BTW who is "Christine"?

Our software here is Neil McIver's Pinguinite. I find this so much more user friendly than I did LF or NOLA's format. NOLA (Joe) is also a member here and I'm a member of his forum too. Btw, we're open to suggestions on improvements. One thing we will be adding soon is a key word field to aid in article searches.

I will get very paranoid if whatreallyhappened goes down. Welcome to 4.. glad you've joined us. I find it odd that LF has been down for so long.. I may be wrong but I think it's bit the dust. Most everyone here with a few exceptions are from TOS.. of course all the smartest ones are here :P

What I wanna know is, can we say any damn thing we want to say without getting thrown off? One of the things which made LF a target for the Fascist ZioNAZIS is that we could say anything about the little inbred animals. People can talk about SQL errors all they want. LF was attacked and deliberately brought down. So, how good is the software at this place?
