War, War, War See other War, War, War Articles Title: UK Foreign Minister Urges War, Not Peace, in Syria UK Foreign Minister Urges War, Not Peace, in Syria by Stephen Lendman Russophobic Tory Foreign Minister Boris Johnson is part of Britains neocon lunatic fringe, his hawkish extremism evident since PM Teresa May named him Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs last July. He lied in parliament, baselessly claiming (a)ll the available evidence
points to Russian responsibility for destroying humanitarian trucks and their cargos near Aleppo. Clear evidence showed otherwise. Russia knows it. So do America, Britain and other nations involved in US imperial aggression against a nonbelligerent country. Last Tuesday, Johnson called for demonstrations outside Russias London embassy, protesting its involvement in Syria - ignoring Britains complicity with Washingtons war of aggression, Moscow combating terrorist invaders at the behest of Damascus. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded, saying (i)t looks like Boris Johnson has moved from words to action, and has unleashed the very weapon with which he threatened Russia - shame. As of now, we all feel ashamed on his behalf. Moscow London embassy called his comments depressing. A tweet added (v)ery unusual call from the Foreign Secretary to hold demonstrations in front of the Russian embassy. New form of British diplomacy? On Wednesday, Johnson told Foreign Affairs MPs its time to be looking at the more kinetic options, the military options in Syria. Negotiations with Russia have run out run out of road. On Sunday, hell meet with fellow (Western) foreign ministers
to discuss how were going to proceed
(considering) all the options we think are available to us and the West. Escalated military action depends on Americas involvement, he added, urging getting very, very tough on Russia. This kind of talk along with militantly anti-Russia rhetoric from Washington risks eventual East/West confrontation - a nightmarish scenario no responsible leaders would tolerate. Yet things seem heading inevitably for explosive war, far more serious than already - assuring losers, not winners, if launched. Stephen Lendman lives in Chicago.
