War, War, War See other War, War, War Articles Title: Lavrov Expects New Talks on Syria to Fail Lavrov Expects New Talks on Syria to Fail by Stephen Lendman With “no special expectations” regarding Saturday Lausanne, Switzerland talks, why is Lavrov going in the first place - knowing failure awaits like all previous times? Saying he wants to see “to what degree” Washington and other anti-Syrian regimes “are prepared to comply with UN Security Council resolutions” makes no sense. Russia understands full well they reject peaceful conflict resolution. Still, “(w)e will offer concrete moves which are necessary to see these resolutions implemented, to have Russian-American agreements implemented” - knowing they won’t be. Lavrov admitted no reciprocal steps from Washington and its rogue partners toward resolving things. Hoping anti-Syrian regimes will “look at facts” and choose implementation over endless fighting is wishing for what won’t ever happen. “All speculations to the effect that it is most important to terminate combat operations in Aleppo are an attempt to ‘retouch’ the situation and to inconspicuously whitewash Nusra and those who collaborate with it,” Lavrov explained. So-called moderates and Nusra are one in the same. Russia’s position in Lausanne will be “honest and clean.” Security Council members favor political dialogue over conflict to resolve things. It doesn’t matter when Western and regional rogue states want war, not peace. Despite knowing more talks are futile, Lavrov will show up in Lausanne on Saturday anyway, pursuing unattainable objectives. Winning the war on US-supported terrorists will be on Syria’s many battlefields, not in far-distant five-star hotel meeting rooms and suites. Stephen Lendman lives in Chicago.
