War, War, War See other War, War, War Articles Title: Failure in Lausanne on Syria Failure in Lausanne on Syria by Stephen Lendman On October 15, Sergey Lavrov, John Kerry and their Iranian, Iraqi, Turkish, Jordanian, Egyptian, Saudi and Qatari counterparts, along with pro-Western UN envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura, met in five-star luxury at Lausanne’s Beau-Rivage Palace hotel. As expected, nothing was accomplished toward resolving Syria’s made in the USA conflict. It’s hard putting a brave face on failure. Yet diplomats consistently try, Lavrov saying “(w)e agreed to further the contacts in the coming days…We have called unequivocally for the relaunch of a political process as soon as possible without delay.” He offered no new conflict resolution initiatives, stressing the importance of observing Security Council and Geneva cessation of hostilities principles - consistently breached by Washington, its rogue partners and terrorist foot soldiers they support. The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said “participants in the Lausanne meeting on crisis in Syria presented interesting ideas, and…they agreed to resume communications soon.” Talks lasted a scant four hours. No press conference followed, clear evidence of irreconcilable differences between Washington and Moscow. There’s no reason to expect future talks can reverse earlier failures, including Saturday in Lausanne. As long as Washington wants endless war for regime change, pro-Western puppet governance replacing Syrian democracy and sovereign independence, peace and stability remain unattainable. On October 16, Kerry is meeting in London with his UK, German, French and Italian counterparts on Syria. Tass reported “key international partners in the” Middle East may be involved - likely Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar and Jordan, perhaps Israel, very much wanting Assad toppled. Will escalated war plans be discussed, including bombing Syrian military targets? Washington may up the stakes by saber-rattling short of greater aggression, preparing for Hillary’s ascension to power by fair or foul means - likely given unprecedented one-sided scoundrel media support, crucifying Trump relentlessly to ruin his chances. Hillary succeeding Obama should terrify everyone. She’s unapologetically militant, reviling peace, favoring endless wars of aggression - highlighting her extremism in an October 13 Time magazine op-ed calling America “exceptional” and “indispensable.” Saying it’s because “we have the greatest military in history…because of our network of alliances,” failed to explain it’s comprised of rogue partners in US high crimes. American “exceptional” may kill us all. It justifies war on humanity. It consistently breaches fundamental rule of law principles and democratic values. Permanent war is official US policy. Millions of corpses attest to its barbarity, exceeding the worst of previous rogue states. Might over right drives policy. Advancing America’s imperium matters most. Obama earlier said “America must always lead on the world stage,” wars of aggression is main strategy of choice - an agenda Hillary wholeheartedly endorses. Despite forthright Russian efforts to resolve conflicts in Syria and Ukraine diplomatically, Washington’s rage for worldwide dominion consistently undermines them. Hillary saying “(l)et’s keep America exceptional” is code language for wanting US global dominance forcefully imposed - threatening world peace and stability. Stephen Lendman lives in Chicago.
