Henry Wadsworth Longfellow immortalized him in his poem Paul Reveres Ride, its memorable opening lines, saying: Listen my children and you shall hear Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere How well I remember them from my early school days, taught about Paul Reveres cry of alarm to every Middlesex village and farm
In the hour of darkness and peril and need the people will waken and listen to hear
They should listen to and heed Vladimir Putins warning, ignored by Western leaders and supportive media scoundrels. At the conclusion of last Junes St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, he warned of the world being pulled in an irreversible direction - US-led NATO heading things toward inevitable nuclear confrontation. Putins comments bear repeating, saying (w)e know year by year whats going to happen, and they (meaning US-led NATO) know that we know. It's only you that they tell tall tales to (meaning deplorable Western media), and you buy it, and spread it to the citizens of your countries. You people in turn do not feel a sense of the impending danger - this is what worries me. How do you not understand that the world is being pulled in an irreversible direction? While do they pretend that nothing is going on. I don't know how to get through to you anymore. Everyone should be greatly concerned about Hillarys likely ascension to power next year - an emotionally unstable neocon war goddess, reviling peace and stability, her agenda threatening humanity like never before in world history. Her anti-Russian hostility risks war between the worlds dominant nuclear powers, assuring losers, not winners, if launched. Weve been warned. So far a brainwashed, indifferent public isnt listening. We have a simple choice - either live together in peace or collectively perish if nuclear war erupts. The growing risk is too great to ignore. Stephen Lendman lives in Chicago.
