Dead Constitution See other Dead Constitution Articles Title: A Snapshot of Deplorable NYT Misreporting on Syria A Snapshot of Deplorable NYT Misreporting on Syria by Stephen Lendman Daily Times reports on Syria and other US war theaters reveal its role as an imperial mouthpiece - Pentagon and administration handouts substituting for truth and full disclosure. On October 18, it headlined “How the Battle for Aleppo Is Taking Syria’s War to a New Low.” Misinformation followed, including claiming 275,000 civilians are trapped in “rebel-held” parts of the city. Fact: No “rebel(s)” exist. All anti-government forces are US-supported terrorists, largely imported from scores of countries. Fact: At most, little more than around 10% of Times-claimed 275,000 civilians remain in eastern Aleppo. Most others there earlier left long ago. Fact: Unspecified UN sources cited have no credibility - like The Times, serving US-led Western interests. The Times: “More than 370 people have been killed and more than 1,200 wounded, the United Nations says, since the collapse of a brief cease-fire last month. Bakeries, schools and hospitals have been attacked.” Fact: Russian and Syrian forces scrupulously strike military targets alone, avoiding civilian casualties and attacks on nonmilitary sites. The Times: “Witness reports, photographs and videos show entire buildings demolished by airstrikes with residents inside, while ground forces, including a number of foreign militias, have pushed into the city.” Fact: US-led “coalition” warplanes terror-bomb hospitals, vital infrastructure and other civilian sites - their war crimes wrongfully blamed on Russia and Syria. Fact: Hezbollah fighters, along with Iranian and Russian advisors are aiding their Syrian allies combat the scourge of US imperialism, using ISIS, al-Nusra and other terrorist foot soldiers, committing appalling atrocities against defenseless civilians. The Times: “The airstrikes have included powerful bunker-buster bombs that reach down into basement shelters and destroy underground water pipes.” “In many cases a second round of strikes will target ambulances and rescue workers after an attack, often halting or delaying the search for victims in the rubble.” Fact: Pentagon and “coalition” warplanes bear full responsibility for these type attacks - falsely blamed on Russia and Syria. The Times: “Videos posted online by activists appeared to corroborate accusations that Russian and Syrian planes have been dropping cluster munitions in residential areas. These bombs indiscriminately disperse bomblets across hundreds of yards.” Fact: Washington, its rogue allies and terrorist foot soldiers use chemical and other terror weapons against Syrian civilians - their high crimes falsely blamed on Russia and Syria. The Times: “(A)t least 1,000 civilians (were) killed by airstrikes in Aleppo this year. Some of the most densely populated areas have been hit.” Fact: Washington considers civilians legitimate targets in all its wars of aggression. Terror-bombing civilian areas is longstanding practice - including the gratuitous firebombing of Tokyo and Dresden during WW II, then Hiroshima and Nagasaki struck while Japan was negotiating surrender. Hillary Clinton as secretary of state urged, planned and orchestrated Obama’s naked aggression on Syria - regime change and destroying it sovereignty America’s imperial aim.
