War, War, War See other War, War, War Articles Title: Putin and Assad Committed to Defeating Terrorism in Syria Putin and Assad Committed to Defeating Terrorism in Syria by Stephen Lendman On Wednesday, Putin and Assad spoke by phone, discussing their war on terrorism in Syria. Russia’s president said he remains committed to defeating its scourge, along with protecting and preserving Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity. Assad thanked him for his vital support, stressing his determination to rid Syria of foreign- supported terrorists and work for diplomatic conflict resolution. “Attacking terrorists in Aleppo is the only way to protect civilians,” he explained - an enormous task given their captivity as human shields, requiring slow-going liberating efforts to minimize numbers killed and wounded. “That's our mission, according to the constitution, according to the law, that we have to protect people, that we have to get rid of those terrorists from Aleppo,” the only way liberation is possible, Assad explained. America cries foul when its imperial agenda is effectively challenged - what’s happening in Aleppo and elsewhere in Syria. Media scoundrels ignore its rape and destruction of one country after another. The myth of humanitarian intervention persists. In contrast, it piles on against heroic freedom-fighting forces challenging US imperial ruthlessness - in Donbass, Ukraine against US-installed Kiev Nazis and in Syria where Russian and Syrian forces are combatting terrorists it supports. These and other US direct and proxy conflicts are interminable - forever wars as long as Washington wants them waged. Its end game is achieving dominion over planet earth, its resources and populations - no matter the cost in mass slaughter, vast destruction and unspeakable human misery. When will conflicts end in all US war theaters? Maybe never in the lifetimes of aging observers like myself. I write and speak out about what I’ve never seen or experienced firsthand, distant from cities and towns US imperial barbarism turned to rubble. Is terror on this scale heading for America? At times I feel like a voice in the wilderness, warning about the dangers of Hillary succeeding Obama - concerned about the greatest of all threats. Will escalated war on humanity and catastrophic nuclear war on Russia follow? Are we doomed to be consumed by her rage to kill, conquer and control? With likely election rigging arranged, is there any way to stop her ascension to power? The only chance is by voting for anyone but her. Stephen Lendman lives in Chicago.
