War, War, War See other War, War, War Articles Title: The Struggle to Preserve Syrian Sovereign Independence The Struggle to Preserve Syrian Sovereign Independence by Stephen Lendman Much depends on defeating the scourge of US imperialism throughout the Middle East. Preserving Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity are key - why Russia is involved, along with wanting to prevent the spread of ISIS and other terrorist groups to its heartland. If Syria goes, Iran is next, followed by targeting Russia and China for regime change, possible nuclear war to achieve America’s imperial aims - madness if undertaken. Earlier in October, Hezbollah leader Sayyad Hassan Nasrallah warned of plots by America, Saudi Arabia and other regional rogue states to destroy Syrian sovereignty and partition its territory to serve Israeli interests - wanting a regional rival eliminated and Iran isolated. “The goal (is) for Syria to fall and be fragmented and ripped apart,” he said - Daesh, al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups “used to serve and achieve US and Israeli goals.” “All those who are defending Syria defend the resistance and look forward to a political solution and not to more bloodshed,” he stressed. America and its regional allies “are demanding crippling conditions to neutralize the political solutions.” He expects escalated fighting ahead, contributing to greater instability. On Sunday, he again stressed the importance of defeating the foreign supported terrorist scourge in Syria. Hezbollah got involved after assessing the enormous regional threat. Longstanding US/Israeli plans call for redrawing the Middle East map, including balkanizing Syria and Iraq, along with installing puppet regimes serving Anglo/Zionist interests. Strategy involves endless wars of aggression, mass slaughter and destruction considered a small price to pay for unchallenged dominance, including control over vast regional hydrocarbon resources. Much of the region risks becoming embroiled in endless bloody conflicts - why defeating this ugly scheme in Syria is essential. Russia is committed, likely as long as Putin remains in charge. Over the weekend, he ended the farcical Aleppo ceasefire/humanitarian pause begun early last week. As expected, it failed like earlier efforts because Washington undermined it. Terrorists it supports in eastern Aleppo blocked humanitarian aid from getting in, along with residents held hostage as human shields from getting out. The battle for Aleppo resumed - government and Hezbollah forces advancing on terrorist-held positions, aided by targeted Syrian and Russian airstrikes. According to Al Masdar News (AMN), “(t)he Syrian Arab Army (SAA), alongside Hezbollah and Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi paramilitary), continued their large-scale advance in southern Aleppo on Sunday night, targeting the key hilltop of Bazou and the nearby districts of Al-'Amariyah and Sheikh Sa’eed.” “Led by the 800th Regiment of the Republican Guard, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies established full control over Tal Bazou after a long battle with the jihadist rebels of Jaysh Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest) near the recently captured Air Defense Base.” “Following the capture of Tal Bazou, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah shifted their attention to the Sheikh Sa'eed and Al-‘Amariyah districts in Aleppo’s southern corridor; this resulted in a swift advance after the pro-government forces launched their surprise assault there.” “Intense clashes are ongoing at the moment, as the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies look to expand on their southern Aleppo buffer-zone before the jihadist rebels launch their large-scale offensive.” What’s happening in Syria and Iraq reflect the ugly face of US imperial viciousness.
