Heres how The NYT misreported what happened, saying (d)ozens of uniformed Islamic State fighters, some of whom were believed to be part of sleeper cells and others who drove into the city in vehicles, assaulted Kirkuk, setting off gun battles in the heart of the city
divert(ing) attention
from the (Mosul) offensive. (M)any ISIS fighters could (have) slip(ped) out of Mosul as displaced civilians
sett(ing) up shop elsewhere as guerrilla insurgents. According to an Iraqi security source, captured ISIS fighters said they were flown to an area south of Kirkuk. Clearly, Washington and Ankara planned the attack, terrorist foot soldiers used to conduct it. The US and its rogue allies pretend to be combating terrorism while actively supporting it - in Syria, Iraq, Libya, Yemen and elsewhere. Most Americans and Europeans are mindless about policies their governments support - responsible for endless imperial wars, involving millions of casualties and vast destruction, risking an eventual showdown with Russia. The prospect of Hillary succeeding Obama should terrify everyone, an unapologetic war goddess threatening everyone. Stephen Lendman lives in Chicago.
