On November 1, Londons Guardian interviewed Britains domestic counter-intelligence and security MI5 agency head Andrew Parker - the first newspaper interview given by an incumbent MI5 chief in the services 107-year history, said the broadsheet. Highlighting growing dangers from various countries, he singled out Russia for special criticism - turning truth on its head, saying: It is using its whole range of state organs and powers to push its foreign policy abroad in increasingly aggressive ways - involving propaganda, espionage, subversion and cyber-attacks. Russia is at work across Europe and in the UK today. It is MI5s job to get in the way of that. Russia increasingly seems to define itself by opposition to the west and seems to act accordingly. You can see that on the ground with Russias activities in Ukraine and Syria. But there is high-volume activity out of sight with the cyber-threat. Russia has been a covert threat for decades. Whats different these days is that there are more and more methods available. All countries engage in spying, major powers like America collecting intelligence on virtually everyone, Britain operating the same way, both countries partnering in espionage and various covert operations. Accusations of Russian aggression and war crimes in Syria are baseless, part of an endless anti- Moscow drumbeat, manufacturing nonexistent threats. Asked why MI5 went public for the first time, Parker said (w)e recognize that in a changing world we have to change too. We have a responsibility to talk about our work and explain it. Commenting on his spurious remarks, Putin press secretary Dmitry Peskov called them completely untrue, saying Russia refuted numerous baseless accusations earlier. Until real proof is furnished, we will consider any statements, by either the MI5 chief, or the United States vice president, or any other official, as evidence-free and unsupported, so, we cannot have any regard for these unsubstantiated statements. Russia fully observes international laws, norms and standards while responsibly defend(ing) its interests abroad. Its always been doing this, being guided by the principles of mutually beneficial relations and seeking to build good-neighborly and mutually advantageous ties with all of its partners. Moscows UK embassy tweeted: Director General of MI5 Parker interview for @Guardian: saddened to see a professional trapped to his own propaganda-created world. Propaganda wars precede hot ones. Things seem heading inexorably toward East/West confrontation - the greatest threat a Hillary presidency poses. After polls close next Tuesday, well know if shell succeed Obama - or if an unexpected Alfred Hitchcock ending awaits, favoring Trump. International con man/Hillary supporter George Soros predicted a landslide Trump popular vote victory, Hillary getting enough Electoral College votes to become Americas 45th president.
