War, War, War See other War, War, War Articles Title: Russian Naval Battle Group Ready to Strike Terrorists in Aleppo Outskirts Russian Naval Battle Group Ready to Strike Terrorists in Aleppo Outskirts by Stephen Lendman Suspension of Russian and Syrian eastern Aleppo airstrikes on October 18 let US-supported terrorists in and around the city replenish their ranks, regroup, rearm, strengthen their defenses, and mobilize for continuing attacks, attempting to break through government military positions - so far unsuccessfully. According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, its Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier-led battle group arrived off Syria’s coast - intending attacks on terrorists in Aleppo’s outskirts, away from heavily populated civilian areas. Interfax quoted a Defense Ministry spokesman, saying “attacks are to hit the long-range approaches to” Aleppo, using warplanes and cruise missiles. Reconnaissance, radio intelligence and satellites located terrorists’ positions, along with routes they plan using to launch repeated attacks. Moscow aims to weaken their ranks and prevent replenishment of fighters, weapons and equipment. A Russian military source said “this time the strikes are to smash hundreds of bases and positions in the outskirts of Aleppo in a 48 to 72 hour period.” According to Syrian MP Zahir Taraf, “(t)he deployment of the Russian warships in the Mediterranean Sea sent a message to the terrorists that Moscow is ready for any military possibility.” AMN News reported a Russian military source, saying the Admiral Kuznetsov battle group will be deployed in the eastern Mediterranean off Syria’s coast for at least six months.
