War, War, War See other War, War, War Articles Title: Large-Scale Russian Anti-Terrorist Operation Launched in Syria Large-Scale Russian Anti-Terrorist Operation Launched in Syria by Stephen Lendman According to Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, “(t)oday (November 15) at 10:30 and 11:00 we launched a large-scale operation against the positions of Islamic State and Al-Nusra in the provinces of Idlib and Homs.” “The main targets of the strikes are warehouses with ammunition, gatherings and terrorist training centers, as well as plants for the production of various kinds of weapons of mass destruction of the population.” “They are factories, not workshops, more specifically the plants for the production of all sorts of rather serious means of mass destruction. Clearly, this is a well-established industrial production, these are the targets for today’s strikes. And they will continue.” Russia’s Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier, positioned off Syria’s coast, is involved in the operation, the first time it’s engaged in military activity. Terrorist positions were bombed and struck with cruise missiles. Targets were chosen after extensive surveillance, prioritizing ones considered most important. Russian “radiation, chemical and biological protection troops” are determining what toxic substances US-supported terrorists are using. Putin waited until after speaking with Trump to begin Russia’s operation, likely to continue until Aleppo and surrounding areas are liberated. Russian and Syrian warplanes refrained from bombing eastern Aleppo for 28 days. A Syrian military source said “(t)errorist groups have refuted the entire terms of the ceasefire to pull back their forces from the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo to maintain security of civilians.” “The militants are still using civilians as human shield and do not allow them to leave the Eastern parts of the city.” “The 24-hour ultimatum of the Syrian army to the terrorists ended (Monday) night, so the army’s operation will soon start. Reconnaissance planes have carried out tens of flights over the city and its countryside and specified the targets.” Government forces are positioned to begin attacking terrorists in eastern Aleppo at any time - to include Russian and Syrian aerial operations, according to a Syrian military source. Russian Defense Ministry spokesman General Igor Konashenkov called reports by Qatar-controlled Al Jazeera, Western-supported/UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and Western media scoundrels, claiming Russian warplanes bombed an Aleppo hospital a “common lie.” For the last 28 days, not a single eastern Aleppo target was struck, just surrounding ones.
