The Bible never records Jesus saying the precise words, “I am God.” That does not mean, however, that He did not proclaim that He is God. Take for example Jesus’ words in John 10:30, “I and the Father are one.” We need only to look at the Jews’ reaction to His statement to know He was claiming to be God. They tried to stone Him for this very reason: “You, a mere man, claim to be God” (John 10:33). The Jews understood exactly what Jesus was claiming—deity. When Jesus declared, “I and the Father are one,” He was saying that He and the Father are of one nature and essence. John 8:58 is another example. Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth … before Abraham was born, I am!” Jews who heard this statement responded by taking up stones to kill Him for blasphemy, as the Mosaic Law commanded (Leviticus 24:16).

John reiterates the concept of Jesus’ deity: “The Word [Jesus] was God” and “the Word became flesh” (John 1:1, 14). These verses clearly indicate that Jesus is God in the flesh. Acts 20:28 tells us, “Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.” Who bought the church with His own blood? Jesus Christ. And this same verse declares that God purchased His church with His own blood. Therefore, Jesus is God!

Thomas the disciple declared concerning Jesus, “My Lord and my God” (John 20:28). Jesus does not correct him. Titus 2:13 encourages us to wait for the coming of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ (see also 2 Peter 1:1). In Hebrews 1:8, the Father declares of Jesus, “But about the Son he says, ‘Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.’” The Father refers to Jesus as “O God,” indicating that Jesus is indeed God.

In Revelation, an angel instructed the apostle John to only worship God (Revelation 19:10). Several times in Scripture Jesus receives worship (Matthew 2:11; 14:33; 28:9, 17; Luke 24:52; John 9:38). He never rebukes people for worshiping Him. If Jesus were not God, He would have told people to not worship Him, just as the angel in Revelation did. There are many other passages of Scripture that argue for Jesus’ deity.

The most important reason that Jesus has to be God is that, if He is not God, His death would not have been sufficient to pay the penalty for the sins of the world (1 John 2:2). A created being, which Jesus would be if He were not God, could not pay the infinite penalty required for sin against an infinite God. Only God could pay such an infinite penalty. Only God could take on the sins of the world (2 Corinthians 5:21), die, and be resurrected, proving His victory over sin and death.

Few years back I read an article written by a rabbi who claimed that "Barabbas" is not and never was a Jewish name. "Bar" is "son of" in Hebrew and "abbas" is "father". So Barabbas was son of the father.

From another source I read that his full name was Jesus Barabbas. In any event, the Resurrection of Christ is what is the foundation of our belief; not His birth nor death, but His victory over the grave.

The god returned home once more, thinking that it was the mind, perhaps, that was the Self. But in a short while he saw that thoughts were so various, now good, again bad; the mind was too changeable to be the Self. He went back to the sage and said, "Sir, I do not think that the mind is the Self; did you mean that?" "No," replied the sage, "thou art That; find out for yourself." The god went home, and at last found that he was the Self, beyond all thought, one without birth or death, whom the sword cannot pierce or the fire burn, whom the air cannot dry or the water melt, the beginningless and endless, the immovable, the intangible, the omniscient, the omnipotent Being; that It was neither the body nor the mind, but beyond them all. So he was satisfied; but the poor demon did not get the truth, owing to his fondness for the body."

I Am That Which Thou Art

Genesis !: 26-28 tells us that we are made in the image of God. Jesus came to show us that by grace we can learn to see that we too are son of God or daughter of God. God desires no less than that we recognize our connection to Him and thus realize our own divinity as Jesus sought to show us.
Like God we have the potential for good and evil as all free creatures do. But God does not choose to ever express His potential for evil only for good. But only by understanding and being able to be evil do we understand what evil is. The coexistence of opposites is always necessary to be truly free. Giving into evil destroys freedom. Overcoming evil with good establishes freedom. So us having the potential for evil does not disqaulify us from looking to God and saying, “I am that that Thou art!”
Hebrews 11: 6 says, “He that comes unto God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of
those that diligently seek Him.” God rewards us by revealing to us that we are connected to Him and not separated from Him and that we are that which He is. When we believe in this unity with God we are empowered to say, “I am that which Thou art!”
Here is an example of this works. God is nourishing of all creation. The Bible, science, philosophy, great theologians from many traditions all agree that God or whatever you call the ultimate source of the universe is nourishing of all that is. Quantum physics calls this nourishing source the unified Field which they have discovered as an intelligent field that hold all existence together, integrating, correlating, nourishing all existence in every moment. Some physicists like Max Plank calls this Field the Divine matrix. Some say it is not only a field of intelligence but it is also conscious. But something or God nourishes everything, “from a tree, to the movement of stars and galaxies, to the migration of birds, to the movement of our own immune system, to the digestive process that is taking place inside us to the beating of our own heart. All this is nourished.” (Deepak Chopra, “Creating Affluence, page 88).
When we wake up to being truly in God’s image and that “we live, move and have our being in Him,” (Acts !7: 28), we can say, “I am that which Thou art. Thou art nourishing of all that is. I too am nourishing. I can nourish the health and longevity of my body by what I do and eat and how I think. I can nourish all whom I meet with love, friendship, peace and happiness. I can nourish nature by loving it, caring for it and respecting it. I can nourish all that I touch. I am that which Thou art. I am nourishing!”
The Lord Jesus who came to nourish our souls would appreciate this.

[OLD TESTAMENT]: would not remain dead, but see his seed, prolong his days and be exalted (53:10-11)

[NEW Testament]: rose from the dead three days after the crucifixion and still lives today and millions of people see themselves as his spiritual seed (Matthew 28:1-10)

I have only in the past year discovered an apparent plot to obscure that word "seed". If you look in Strong's concordance, there is one word for "seed" (singular) and another word for "seeds" (plural).

whereas the King James Version of the Bible translates the word seed throughout, the NIV and others alter the Word by substituting "descendants" or "offspring", which you will see, nullifies Galatians 3:16.

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Here are a few pertinent passages that help to point out the message the NIV [which is used in the Lutheran seminary I am told, and an edict came down in the Baptist church while I was attending that maybe 10 years ago, to use it exclusively in Bible class, and may be the counter-word of God that is going out to the whole world] is helping to obscure:

If you look up the NIV for those verses, I believe you will find they all translate "seed" as "descendants" or "offspring" [PLURAL]

Isaiah 53:10, which foretells of Christ's sacrificial death, was first brought home to me by a young Jewish man who became a Christian....on the strength of that verse.

He told in one article how he was followed and questioned many times by the Mossad in the police state of Israel. They wanted the names of his bible students, some of whom cried and threw down their "stars-of-david" after learning the truth of the gospel; they had thought they couldn't become Christians because they were Jewish, due to the brainwashing they had received at the hands of the pharisees. He didn't give their names of course, and continued to preach the gospel and expose the crimes of "zion".

FINALLY, I found someone who believes along the same lines as I do...that God was not talking about Old Testament Israel here, but the New Testament Israel, the church [ http://www.preteristarchive.com/PartialPreterism/provan-charles_dd_01.html ], which God brought to America in 1607, where the first thing they did, even before they proceeded to Jamestown, was get out and plant a cross they had brought from England: http://www.wnd.com/2007/04/41327/print/ . When, EXACTLY, we became "afflicted" is maybe known only to God, but I now wonder if it started around the time the northern colony of sheep in wolves' clothing set up shop. Remember: "the Jews will be their own Messiah". Michael Hoffman has called the Holocaust Memorial a "temple" that we must all fall down before. [There can be no "holocaust" of any people but the Jews, even holocausts they have caused], because the point, according to Hoffman, is to replace the suffering of Christ on the cross as the center of western civilization with the suffering of the Jews. Those weren't his exact words but as I remember them.

A friend of mine whose name is Mark (Davey from Dallas on talk radio) made me aware of a "FACT" that is overlooked by people focused solely upon so-called "Jews" as responsible for the world's problems. (He taught me this among many other things because he studied to resolve the problem not enlarge it). He pointed out the fact that most people calling themselves "Jews" are descendants of the Khazars of eastern Europe (estimated to be 90%) of the total Jewish population, making them "GENTILES."

I would never discount the truth of Jewish elites having a disproportionate negative influence upon the condition of the world. That being said, I am of the opinion that most people calling themselves Jews are in fact gentiles that have been convinced otherwise. They have been propagandized just like most everyone else to believe the lies propagated by the elites, their educational systems, their media and their bought and paid for religious leaders (Rabbis and the Talmud). Christianity itself suffers from the lies of false teachers, false "profits" and a sense of salvation through grace that allows them to commit wrongs all week as long as they attend church on Sunday (not ever the sabbath).

Whether through propaganda or through apathy the ignorance of the world keeps all of us at war with each other and complicit with the elites agenda.

Good catch. Zondervan and their ilk have been on a consolidation rampage and apparently it's complete. They are Satan's handmaidens, the new world order publishing triumverate.

You know that Hitler wanted to send the Jews to Madagascar, a lush tropical island. But the Jews did not want to hear that. They wanted to go to Palestine.
