Title: Why Vets Are Getting Away With Murder

How’s that for a title? If it got your attention, that’s good because this topic needs your attention.

It used to be that dogs visited the vet pretty rarely. They only needed a couple of vaccines, they weren’t eating veterinary prescription diets and they weren’t continually loaded with:

heartworm preventives flea and tick meds flea and tick shampoos dewormers pharmaceuticals and more Thinking back, maybe that’s why they didn’t need to go to the vet all that often.

Today, there’s a very different veterinary clinic. It’s true that we now have better treatment options at our disposal, such as MRIs and more technologically advanced surgery. I think it’s great that vets – and our pets – have access to these modern, life-saving tools.

But somewhere along the way, the veterinary practice lost perspective. I’m not talking about individual vets; I believe that most of them want to do right by our pets. But the problem is vets have allowed themselves to be influenced by the pharmaceutical companies and the dog food manufacturers – to the great detriment of our pets.

Why The Veterinary Profession Is Broken … The veterinary profession is broken and it isn’t about to change any time soon. Our pets are being over-serviced and we’re getting fleeced. We pay for the unnecessary vaccinations, the overly-processed, synthetic prescription pet foods that contain ingredients from China, and we pay for drugs and chemicals that are damaging to the immune system.

After shelling out for these services, pet owners need to keep their wallets open because, sooner or later, the chronic disease caused by these products like allergies and cancer will start to kick in and require treatment. They threaten the quality and quantity of life for our companion animals – and many of these diseases are caused by the products vets tell us are safe and effective.

The sad fact is, some common veterinary practices are harming our dogs. Vets today have too many drugs, vaccines and chemicals at their disposal and they’re overly willing to dispense them. The worst part is, they hold no accountability for their actions. In short, they can and do ignore vaccine label recommendations or prescribe harmful or unnecessary drugs and we pet owners have no recourse.

I believe that the most common and most harmful veterinary practice is over- vaccination. Not only do the vaccines cause a lot of damage in our dogs, but nearly every vaccine vets give our dogs is unnecessary.

[Know if your dog is being vaccinated too often with this simple guide. Click Here]

Pay attention to that sentence: nearly every vaccine given to our dogs is useless – they get no benefit but all of the risk.

How could this happen? How can vets cause so much disease and devastation in our dogs without even knowing it?

Vets Don’t Understand Immunology or Vaccines I paraphrase Dr Ronald Schultz, the leading veterinary immunologist when I say that vets are not prepared to make vaccine decisions. In the March 2012 issue of Dogs Naturally, we published an article where we interviewed various vets on their thoughts and experience with vaccines. Here are some of the responses we got:

I used to have lots of dogs. One of the healthiest was a stud who attained a fair amount of notoriety. He had been vaccinated as a pup and received one vaccine for Rabies at the vet, as the state mandated this. He might have received more had the state not been involved. In retrospect, had I thought about it, he probably wouldn't have received that; should he become rabid I would have put him down.

Anyhow, when he was 12 I took him to the vet to get him checked for a runny-nose. The first thing the vet did was shoot him up with antibiotics, about midway down his back. The next morning the dog was paralyzed from the injection site to his tail. The vet didn't know what might have caused this, took x-rays, which showed nothing wrong and sent me to a specialist, three hundred miles away. The specialist could find no reason for paralysis and sent the dog home with me.

For a month I'd lug the dog from his bed, to the yard and back again. He did his best not to mess in his bed. As his back-half became more and more atrophied, it became apparent that the dog would never be right again. I took him out back, dug a hole, placed him in it and put a bullet in his brain. I then went, sat on the porch and bawled like a baby.

I may, at some point in time, have another dog but I'll never have another vet.

I lost a yellow lab in 2015. She had a bite wound to the groin that abscessed. She had 2 surgeries and for 2 months after whenever I could not be with her I hired a full time caregiver. As the wound worsened my vet bowed out and referred me to a specialty hospital. The first night of care without seeing a surgeon or surgery was $1800. Surgery was $3000 and the wound would take about 6 month to heal as the first vet did not realize the wound entered the peritoneal cavity. I had her put down before the surgery. She had suffered for 3 months. Just like human medical care in this corporate era, the goal is not just to heal and deliver adequate medical care, it is to milk as much money as possible from the victim.

I say this as a physician planning my early retirement because I am tired of what medicine has become. I have my dogs get their rabies vaccination. I refuse to vaccinate my cats.

I agree with the article and the comments here. BigPharma is over-vaccinating both humans and most of our pets; all under the penalty of law.

My GP is also a friend of long standing, thus we talk.

Recently at a 3PM appointment he came in the exam room, flung himself into a chair and started talking. It was apparent he was exasperated. His words were, "its three PM and you are the first patient I have seen today that NEEDED TO SEE A DOCTOR".

Large clinic, hundreds of doctors, big business, cattle call 9 to 5, five days a week. Illness not allowed other days or hours.

damn man, that is a terrible sad story. Our dog Maxine died the same day she went to the vet, too. I mean, she was old and sick, but she probably would have lasted longer if we had just let her be. in the morning she was hobbling around, after the vet in the afternoon she died that night.

thankfully, my wife called me to come home because Maxine was acting very sick. she waited until I got home, and died in my arms. :-(

We too, have not gotten another dog. None could compare to Maxine, in my book.

I consider it a great blessing from God that sbe was with me literally almost half my life.

Geez, I saw the title and I was thinking it was military vets.

That reminds me of a story from working at State of Illinois. One guy was telling a foreman he was a vet. The foreman said, "What are to doing here? You could be making big money."

The guy meant he was a veteran, not a veterinarian. LOL

my daughter had a cat who got an abscess from an animal bite, and spent $900 on surgery, antibiotics, months cleaning, bandaging, etc. the cat was almost healed when it happened again. this time a holistic-minded friend gave her some homeopathic myristica. costs a few dollars. www.homeopathyworks.com/ . the thing came to a head i think and healed itself in days...no more cat feeling sick, etc. now whenever one of her cats gets an abscess (has happened a few times since then) she gets out the myristica and the cat is back to normal in about 2 or 3 days.

why not consider a new career in homeopathy? it would be a shame to waste all your knowledge.

I refuse to vaccinate my cats.

Good for you ... we have 2 un-vaccinated cats as well. We had another cat that was put down at the age of 17 (that was never vaccinated).

Voting these days is condoning evil in the hopes of restoring good.
