War, War, War See other War, War, War Articles Title: NYT Denigrates Russia's Laudable Peacemaking Efforts in Syria NYT Denigrates Russia’s Laudable Peacemaking Efforts in Syria by Stephen Lendman The Times supports all US wars of aggression - one nation after another raped and destroyed, Syria one of its prime targets, Obama’s war raging for nearly six years. Because of dedicated Russian conflict resolution efforts, a chance for peace is possible - not achieved easily or soon, but perhaps coming. It depends largely on whether Trump is on board, an unknown until his geopolitical agenda begins taking shape - perhaps after his first 100 days in office, likely to focus mostly on domestic issues. A yearend Times editorial disgracefully asked “Can Russia Make Peace as Well as War? Ignoring US aggression, orchestrated by Hillary Clinton as secretary of state, Times editors blamed Syria, Russia and Iran for Washington’s high crimes of war and against humanity. The Times: “For two years, while bolstering Mr. Assad’s brutal regime, President Vladimir Putin of Russia dabbled with the United States in efforts to arrange the earlier cease-fires and negotiate an end to the civil war.” “Now, during a fraught transition of power in Washington, Mr. Putin has effectively marginalized the United States and maneuvered into position as the dominant international player in Syria.” Fact: Syria was invaded by US created and supported death squads - ISIS, al-Nusra and other terrorist groups responsible for mass slaughter and gruesome atrocities, largely against defenseless civilians. Fact: Washington undermined Russia’s good faith conflict resolution efforts. Moscow largely ended communications for good reason, awaiting Trump’s ascension to power. Fact: Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, along with his Iranian and Turkish counterparts, agreed on a ceasefire plan - having a chance to work by excluding US participation in talks, wanting America involved once Trump takes over. Fact: Washington under Obama “marginalized” itself, Russia the key player for achieving a durable peace in Syria. No two officials deserve Nobel Peace Prize recognition more than Putin and Lavrov. Honoring them is unlikely when war criminals like Obama win peace prizes. Times editors: “Many experts and international leaders believe (Obama’s failure to act more aggressively) cost America prestige and influence.” Fact: It’s hard imagining anyone writing this rubbish doing it with a straight face. Fact: Obama raped and destroyed Syria. Half the population was displaced internally or externally. Over half a million Syrians are dead, countless others affected by serious wounds, many disabling. Fact: Major war crimes were committed, America fully responsible, its rogue allies sharing blame. Times editors continue hyping the Big Lie about civil war, nonexistent moderate rebels, along with maliciously accusing Russia of “collaborating with Syrian forces in devastating airstrikes on civilians and hospitals” - more Big Lies. Times editors supported Obama’s aggression throughout nearly six horrific years, raping an entire country, traumatizing its people. The Times isn’t the newspaper of record. It’s a national disgrace - along with other media scoundrels, proving fake news on vital issues, not credible journalism. Stephen Lendman lives in Chicago.
