That reporter was a motormouth.. Why not some competent reporting? She claims that loaded guns are allowed in checked bags by mental cases. So anyone in the USA can check a gun and ammo in the same bag and then pick up their luggage at the baggage area, load up and open fire on everyone? I don't believe that sounds correct. Does it?

It's partly correct. Guns transported in the cargo bays of planes are not checked to see if they are loaded or not, you just have to declare that what is in the case is a weapon. There are probably instructions on whatever you sign (I've never done it) requiring you to unload the weapon before it goes on the plane.
Hunters have been doing this forever, as it is the only way to transport a rifle if you are going hunting in remote places far from where you live.
This could be a game changer.
Hunters still need to be able to transport, but there needs to be something confirming there are no munitions being transported at the same time as the weapon.
